ROME major upgrade expected

BIG fat warning remind: (repeat never hurts and saves headaches)

2024-03-19T23:00:00Z

ROME users attention please:

The process to copy cooker repositories to rolling (ROME) started.
We’ll keep you informed when it will be the time to perform distro-sync again.
Stay tuned.

Because of the significant upgrade this time, please:

- read carefully the notes posted above in this same topic

- start the upgrade process from console command which can create the transaction full log, example

sudo dnf clean all ; dnf clean all ; dnf repolist
sudo dnf --refresh --allowerasing distro-sync 2>&1| tee dsync-log.txt

Properly report issues

Should you encounter any problem, console displaying conflicts errors or any weird message hold on trying to upgrade; open a new topic with a descriptive title in Support category and attach the full dsync-log.txt file. Not an excerpt, not a summary, not what you think is relevant. The full log means all the log
Chance are that the testers already faced the issue and found a fix or a workaround.

Depending on installed packages, it may also be necessary to temporarily remove the falkon-kde package, because falkon is moving to the Plasma 6 version even on systems using Plasma 5 desktops – the Qt5 version of QtWebEngine is just too far behind to be useful anymore.

sudo dnf remove falkon-kde

Take this quote seriously folks.

We are close to giving the OK to proceed but we are not there yet.

ROME users attention please:
Process finished.

It should be safe to distro-sync ROME system again.

Please note:
We renamed the Unsupported (misleading name) repositories to Extra.
So the files in /etc/yum.repos.d/ must be updated.

If at the end of the process we are presented with a series of questions like this one, mentioning the configuration files in → /etc/yum.repos.d/ ← we will have to answer (Y)
:warning: - Yes - :warning:
