I just moved from Debian LXQt to OM Rome Plasma. It’s a little bit of a learning curve, but within a couple of days I no longer had the urge to move back to LXQt. Daily operation is very similar; where to find all of the settings is the real challenge.
Wow, I skimmed through some of this post, and there’s a lot of people coming here from Lunduke. Guess that just makes me the latest to do the same lol.
Anyway, hi! I caught the initial video, but continued to hang out on Arch for a while. Then Arch started being stupid, so I guess I’m here now. I’ve just put Rome on my laptop today, and will very likely be migrating my desktop over sometime soon as well.
Welcome! We are happy to see you.
Woohoo! Welcome to OpenMandriva.
Thanks guys! Happy to be here.
Welcome @Flurmos @DungeonCrawler @the_jt @coffeewren @DZO
Welcome to all of you, you’ve got stranded to the very right shore
Let’s add one more hello!
It was a rather good move to contact Lunduke. Of all possible senses the “common” variety seems to be in very short supply for time being, so might as well wait here. Good to see that at least somewhere merit and technology are still regarded as important and politics is the joke, if even that. Within many distributions and projects this seems to be the other way around for some reason.
Today marks one full month of testing ROME, so still learning the ropes, but I think these are the right ropes to learn. Thank you for providing them!
Welcome to OpenMandriva, OTZ! Settle in and stick around. We’re glad you’re here.
Welcome! We are happy you decided to join us.
@OTZ Welcome
Was trying to decide if I should go for an Arch spin off or OpenMandriva. Lunduke’s review helped with that. Been using OpenMandriva for over a month now and happy. Not all the packages I use daily were in the repos but was able to work around that (beauty of Linux). Maybe I can help with that?
Yes. Feel free to file a Package Request here
(1 package 1 request)
PS>
Oh, well you can also join the development team and help with packaging of course.
Welcome! We are happy to see you.
Package Requests are important. I have put in a few for myself and a few for others. The devs don’t know what you need till you tell them. They work on the “first come, first served” basis and that means don’t hold your breath, but they will get to it. It just won’t be an overnight thing.
@jordonr welcome
OM n00b here! via Lunduke. Testing ROCK & ROME to get a feel for how the OS works. Running into the legacy NVidia issues on an old laptop; otherwise I wish I would have known about this distro sooner.
RPMs without any rhel nonsense, Kde, and no forced politics! What’s not to love?
Thanks the dev team!
All right! Welcome to OpenMandriva, Shimmy!
welcome to all the new peeps
