I did a double take when I saw that name… yay!
Thank you @eepardaku @rugyada and yes @WilsonPhillips, I have every plan of staying. So far so good, although I did go deeeeep down the classic Nvidia GPU driver rabbit hole. I had quite a bit of fun, although fiddling through the night with it on a work night left me pretty groggy the next day lol.
My name made you do a double take @tux_peng? Thank you for the welcome
Looks like I cant completely go OM just yet.
I was able to convert the machine I setup as a NAS/media server with no problem and its been working fine for a while.
BTW For the following, I am not looking for help here in coffee break. Just a little explanation of why I am not going completely OM just yet.
I have another server machine. I use it to serve up game controllers for a really old video game called Descent 3. Yes there are a few people who still play that. I use wine to run the servers.
It is still running a really old Fedora 37 with wine 8.6
I usually run 4 servers so there are 4 wine instances running on that machine.
When I created a new SSD with a fresh install of OM and a latest and greatest wine, I could get the servers running but they would only stay running for about 10 minutes then immediately all die at the same time. I have not been able to figure out the problem. Since it was the same time and about 10 minutes I immediately thought it might have something to do with it attempting to go to sleep or something on the desktop, but I was able to determine that OM comes by default with those things turned off.
Also, it looked as though if the desktop looses communication with the monitor (KVM switch to other server) then the wine processes immediately would die.
So I am leaving it on Fedora 37 for the moment.
I wrote about this in Support, but looks like no one has an answer yet.
So I cant go completely OM just yet, but I am still trying.
I think you refer to this topic ?
Sorry. The best bet is that no one had any clue, but also that we may have all very busy with Rock release at the same time. I understand that it may not be a valid justification but please consider it
I’m confident that right now someone will be able to look better at it and maybe come with some suggestion. Please don’t give up.
I am looking at using OM too. I have been using Pop for a long time at this point, but I am happy to try OM out, especially with a community like this. (I also came from Lunduke)

@WilsonPhillips @tux_peng
I never warmed up to it, Descent II was a ton of fun though.
I was directed here by Lunduke a few weeks ago. Welcome.
Yes, I’m here because of Lunduke. I want to use and support a project whose leader’s focus is on the software. And Leaders that don’t call people of NAZI as well. This is insane, but sadly happens in some cases.
I loved the structure of the OM ISO distributions. I came from Debian and will install the stable version of OM for my daily tasks and the OM server for my home lab. I don’t care about the issues I will have in this change. I’m here to make it work.
Welcome! We are glad to see you @paulo.ormonde and we hope you will make this your home.
The way I see it, those who go around screaming “NAZI” are not really leaders. They are only proving that they are completely brainwashed and incapable of originating any thought processes on their own.
While I was never called a NAZI for choosing which software to use (but I have been called stupid by a brother-in-law for using Linux), I have been called a NAZI for driving the wrong color and type of personal vehicle.
Today, being called a NAZI has become a badge of honor. Tell that to anyone who calls you a NAZI. But be ready for a massive head explosion when they realize that the name-calling just backfired.
As for my brother-in-law, he will live. He enjoys his spyware operating system.
