Yet another move because of Lunduke

I’m yet another individual moving to OM because of Lunduke.
Up until now, I did not have the means to move a couple servers that I run, from Fedora to OM but now I do and so far it has been pretty easy to get my servers up on OM.
I am using the slim version since I know exactly which packages I want.
The only thing I had a problem with was getting minidlna working correctly. I had to build my own systemd service file.

It was Lunduke who alerted me to OMs pleasantly refreshing apolitical culture.
I will be migrating to OM ROME as soon as I get some storage media to back up some of my stuff. I’m kinda poor, and I have minimal hardware.

Lunduke. I only ever heard of it after joining the community here. But have probably heard it more than any other distro, even though not one. :rofl: Have you joined the Matrix channels yet, though?

No, not yet, but I probably will as soon as I’ve done the migration.

Would you mind sharing that service file? Would probably be good to include it in the package… Chances are nobody else is using it.
Btw, did you see the server version? Might be even more suitable than the slim one.

Ooooops. Sorry I missed this.

Here is my file:

\etc\systemd\system\minidlnad.service:

[Unit]
Description=Minidlna Daemon
After=syslog.target network.target

[Service]
Type=forking
ExecStart=/sbin/minidlnad

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target

I got this by doing a little searching. There are plenty of howtos out there.

Count me in as well! Just made the switch from Solus after realizing their idea of “political neutrality” doesn’t quite hold up in practice. Happy to be on a distro where discussions feel more open and respectful.

A lot of us showed up because of Bryan Lunduke. You should fit in just fine here. Who knows, you might even enjoy our Matrix chat. Of all of the Matrix clients I have tested Element flatpak seems to be the least painful.

I just returned to OM after not using it since 4.3. I’ve been a long-term Slackware user, but sometimes I just want something that I can get up and running with more quickly.

I appreciate what Lunduke had to say about OM; bonus points for OM being solid, stable, independent, and good looking!
