Update policy for ROME?

Hello,

I have a question on maintaining an OpenMandriva ROME installation. When it is safe to run sudo dnf up? Can I do it anytime some portion of updates arrives, or should I update the system only in certain update windows?
This worries me since I want to avoid situations when ROME repositories are inconsistent (eg. are being synced) and DNF will encounter broken dependencies. Sometimes I see forum posts here about “it is now safe to upgrade”. That means that it may be not safe to do so in other moments?
So, how to correctly keep ROME updated in the long run? Is there any policy or rule when to run upgrades? Should I strictly follow forum advice on upgrade windows or it is safe to install updates in random moments?

Hello,

You may see that sentence here in this topic: ROME major upgrade expected
Usually:

“ROME users attention please: The process to copy cooker repositories to rolling (ROME) started. […] We’ll keep you informed when it will be the time to perform distro-sync again”

Followed by (after a few time):

“Process finished. It should now be safe to distro-sync ROME system

often also providing reminds, warnings and/or workarounds if any need.

I’m going to publish such an advice right now in facts.

ROME users should bookmark and subscribe notifications if not done already to that topic.
Besides that, you can upgrade system any time (except the brief window time between the 2 notices).

sudo dnf up is not the best way to upgrade ROME (or Cooker) systems. Read this article.

Thanks! I don’t really mind using dsync.
