Testing OM-Welcome

Bedtime

It wasnt an accident. I ended up here the same way you did.

Hello fellows,

I’m going to write some random input bits and anwers.

First of all, so to actually be everyone on the same page:

sudo dnf --refresh upgrade om-welcome

If you are uncertain, on top of your comment please post the ouput of
rpm -q om-welcome

To debug om-welcome please run command from console
om-welcome
and look at what is going on.

Copy/paste the output to the testing report if any issue occurs.
If it’s very long, use pastebin or a pastebin-alike service and provide the link.

In the latest 2.9.2-1 version (cooker and rolling) is included a new feature to install Brave Browser along with its repo straight away with just one click.

So far internal testing succeeded. But we are here to test more widely, aren’t we?
Just noticed a minor (?) issue where it may or may not work at first attempt. Click on the same module again should properly work. This is being investigated.

I have the latest version and for me, the chain of commands does install the repo and brave-browser.

I assume you mean this

They originally were not intended as links, but

If you are going to show them, make them real.

yup! It would be nice.

Let me see if I did understand you correctly.
This?

Your first post is correct.
Second is correct. Even if I click that button, I cannot grab a border and resize the whole thing to suit me. I can’t even maximize it.

So…
back to testing the Brave Browser thing again, you would need to:

sudo dnf remove brave-browser
(if already installed whatever method you did)

delete or move this file if existing
/etc/yum.repos.d/brave-browser.repo

sudo dnf clean all;dnf clean all;dnf repolist

Test install

DNFDrake seems to ignore the task bar position. Yes, I have the task bar on the side, because I would rather give up some space there on this ultra-wide monitor.

The Install Brave button does work as expected. It’s good.

On a side note, this change comes from the Community inputs here
What is your favorite browser?

I tested the Brave install. It worked perfectly for me. No issues. I am running ROME, Plasma 6, Wayland, fully updated, znver1.

Me too. X11 small ROME image, DNF update only updated the Welcome screen after OS install. Clicked Brave once and voila - it’s installed.

Same on stable Rock

Work in progress.
Almost done, meaning that I just have to test locally some more times. Further info later.

Published in cooker repository for now.

ROME users:
sudo dnf upgrade om-welcome --enablerepo=cooker-x86_64 --refresh

Cooker users: just upgrade it.

There will be more to fix later…

I’m running znver1, should I enable that repo?

Ah…
No, replace x86_64 with znver1
Forgot to mention, sorry.

Thank you.

Link fails to do anything. Cursor changes, but nothing happens.
