ive got a solution even if hes not willing to do it take a look at sonicd. that same user was the main friction point for our handheld iso having to go unofficial btw.
I’ve gone the other way, become hardcore anti-systemD.
Hopefully the devs take you up on your offer, it’s a nice compromise if they want to keep SystemD.

I wish that would work long term but the UK is already enforcing ageD stuff for their websites you need spoof soon or the normal web is cooked for users they seem to be doing this stuff over there with or without laws passed.
you can with sonicd have no fear! aged_bypass.c is working since last week when midnightBSD played their hand and exposed ageD code to me.
What would they do to a computer that is non-reporting?
There’s gotta be millions of use cases where that would happen. People with five year old phones that can’t afford to upgrade and Google and Apple no longer support - People still running Windows 10 which is EOL, I can’t imagine how they even enforce these stupid laws.

As of this month in April 2026, the UK’s Online Safety Act has moved from theory to aggressive enforcement. Ofcom’s “Highly Effective” mandate means that a simple “Are you 18?” checkbox is legally dead. If your device can’t provide a Certified Age Token via a bypass or ID the Clearnet won’t just ignore you it will treat you as a Default Minor at the same time and likely rate limit you along with other AI scraper bots that cannot do this. You won’t be able to use most websites if they all follow this trend so get used to spoofing now or get ready to unplug from most websites for community ones fully. Not updating to one that cant do this will have the same result there is no escaping this.
This is why I was also working on a personal server - here in the states, they banned routers from “foreign actors”. IMO this is because they don’t have the backdoors they want to spy on us.
So I bought a cheap HP Elite Desk (quad core - 8GB of RAM) plan is to turn it into a multi server host.
Been using Vendewolf (Devuan based) and creating scripts to do this.
Currently have OPNSense router running on it, on it’s own subnet separated from the corporate modem/router. (Which now has WiFi disabled completely)
Also plan on putting Project NOMAD on it, and I would suggest everyone consider that. It allows you to access data locally - and on your isolated subnet, they can’t see what you’re doing.

EXCELLENT IDEA make your own local network with backups of info now so you wont be forced by clearnet websites to cough up an ID or spoof to get it. My age verification bypass is also a python script you can run by itself so you dont need to use sonicd just have python dbus im hoping thats enough to fool it for a while but god only knows how long that will work by itself. Its already insufficient in the UK during my testing it needs the ageD bypass and that script at a bare minimum. I will do research and see if a fully python option is possible but I am skeptical to say the least.

If you use a VPN and connect to the site from another country does it solve the issue?
This has also become problematic. Banking sites hate VPN connections, and YT was telling me I’m a bot.

yeah bbc US for now doesnt need ID but it wont let me watch dr who unless im from UK… it CAN work i bet but maybe not for video streaming UK shows i really need it needed the VPN plus the ageD crap.
Wish I could use the poo emoji there - that really sucks man.
I would still pursue a private LAN based media / information device as I don’t want to give them any PII even fake data. That shows compliance, even if it is faked.

yeah im gonna have to make a personal media server soonish like Joseph Crowell did because of this crazy ID requirement im sure they plan to put on all streaming sites. Good news we have other vid hosts than YT but the transition is gonna be so messy lots of history will be forever lost on there no doubt

my pr for ageD bypass on freedom browser Check that out i think the link might work now hopefully i did have the build break when i merged stuff from liberated systemd they keep trying to restore mkosi and all those crappy lennart scripts in workflows give me a bit to fix it a ton of CVE/codeql fixes from them just hit sonicd
