Skanpage "Show Scanner Options" button not working

I don’t know if this is a bug or a “feature.”

I needed to scan in a few medical bills for tax purposes with my Canon scanner. With Skanlite, everything works fine, one page, one .pdf file. But time-consuming as I will need to merge those files together.

I thought I would give Skanpage a try, as this is my go-to for multiple page scanning into a single .pdf file. I installed it with dnfdragora, selecting plasma6-skanpage, version 25.04.0.

Problem: The “Show Scanner Options” button (top right) in Skanpage was not working.

Failed solution: Back to dnfdragora. Uninstall plasma6-skanpage, version 25.04.0. Install skanpage, version 23.08.3. This version doesn’t work with Plasma 6.

Next step, it solved the problem (I think): Back to dnfdragora. Uninstall skanpage, version 23.08.3. Install plasma6-skanpage, version 25.04.0. Now Skanpage works, including the “Show Scanner Options” button.

Question: Why does doing this song and dance routine of uninstalling and installing with dnfdragora get the options button inside Skanpage to work?

I noticed that version 25.04.0 is significantly smaller than 23.08.3, based on what dnfdragora is showing me. When I attempted to install 23.08.3, did some missing files get installed from 23.08.3?

If this doesn’t belong in Support, please delete or relocate it to where it belongs.

Problem with using GUI/s is that you don’t get any log for future documentation, like it’s your case.
Hard to tell then what packages got installed, removed, and installed again, and to compare the transactions.

I will keep your advice regarding using a GUI in mind for the next time something similar happens. Then I will try to get some text output.
