Hello All,
Today I tried OMA second time, since my first time did not go well. This time I chose to try the Rolling version since it has more updated upstream and kernel and packages, wishing my first time issues would be solved.
Well, the Live ISO boot was instantaneous !, booted under 10 seconds, yes that was amazing. But that excitement did not last when I installed to HDD and booted. The total load time was more than 1 minute ! Not only that, my old issues 1) no touchpach 2) no brightness control keys working still persist on this rolling version too
So I went and update to the latest upstream kernel version available which is
[root@jeevanism-81d2 jeevanism]# uname -r
5.7.7-desktop-1omv4002
And I disabled some startup services who systemd-analyze blame suggested as the culprits. I dont use LVM, so I disabled it, then disabled all CUPS services since I dont use a printer, I even disabled the ufw.service, yes.
Then as some people suggested here I added the grub parameter ivrs_ioapic[32]=00:14.0
below is my current grub line
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet logo.nologo acpi_osi=Linux acpi_osi='!Windows 2018' acpi_backlight=vendor ivrs_ioapic[32]=00:14.0 audit=0 rd.timeout=120 scsi_mod.use_blk_mq=1 dm_mod.use_blk_mq=1 rd.systemd.show_status=0 systemd.show_status=0"
Then I rebooted,
well, the boot load time is now
[root@jeevanism-81d2 jeevanism]# systemd-analyze
Startup finished in 1.932s (kernel) + 13.995s (initrd) + 28.395s (userspace) = 44.323s
graphical.target reached after 28.382s in userspace
which is not so great, I have to make it as close to 30sec atleast. I will post the blame results below.
and still, the touchpad is not detected, the brightness control keys are not working.
thats the situation now, I consider myself as an intermediate Linux User, I dont mind trembling with command line / konsole - any suggestions / help / tips, thank you in advance
