OpenMandriva Rock/5.0 users be ready for OMLx 6.0

Hello,

The users using OMLx 5.0 with Update channel ’Rock’ will soon find a surprise: the system automatically converts to 6.0. This is all intentional, so don’t panic!

Does this mean it is safe to update to Rock 6.0 from Rock 5.0?

That is how I am taking this. The system just becomes a 6.0 Rock system, which is awesome! Really appreciate all of the hard work!

Great! That’s wonderful news! We thank you guys!

BACKUPS!

Folks get your backups done before this happens. Don’t wait till after the fact and say you were not warned.

If you have questions about getting your data backed up, ASK SOMEBODY! There are packages that will make the process pretty easy. I recommend grsync and kbackup.

Well, it is going to do it automatically. How safe? I don’t know. Get your backups done.

Your ~/ directory excluding .cache
Grab a copy of /etc/fstab as I ALWAYS snag that one.

Cool! So its palsma5 still then. Thank you @WilsonPhillips, my mistake. Sorry for bothering you :zipper_mouth_face:

It’s no bother grafi.

i have one laptop running Plasma 6, and a laptop running Plasma 5, and i still like the Plasma 5 much much better. Plasma 6, i hope will be as good as 5 is in the future, and i would say it’s pretty good for being early version of Plasma 6, but things which are super useful to me are broken. like spectacle, gone are the keyboard shortcuts for editing tools on the screenshots, or even to copy or to save, and that’s just ridiculous. how could they work on that and remove that basic and crucial functionality?

so, trust the wisdom of the OM Rock team and just wait until Plasma is better, because for now, it’s worse than the mature and reliable Plasma 5.

thank you WilsonPhillips

A fresh install is strongly preferred over upgrading an existing system.

Everyone should learn how to back up their important data regardless of what operating system you use.

For those stubborn users this has worked in testing on uncustomized machines.
