OM Lx 3 black screen with Intel graphics

On 2 computers with Intel graphics I get a black screen when trying to boot any of Robert’s nightly .iso’s after 11-24. Is anyone else with Intel graphics seeing this? To test you don’t need to install on hardware just try to boot .iso in to Live and see what happens. The .iso’s do work with basic graphics driver and in VirtualBox just not on hardware with Intel graphics.

Fixed with ‘x11-driver-video-intel-2.99.917-6.20151201.2’.

hello, I’m experiencing this issue 10 years later in 2025 on a lenovo laptop built in 2021. Is there an updated driver that fixes this issue on newer laptops made in the last 5 years? If so, how do I install it?

That package version does not exist in any current version of OMLx, nor does it exist in OMLx 4.3 which is EOL.

You don’t tell us what version of OMLx you are using or what your specific graphic card or hardware is which is key information. But you appear to be using a version long since EOL.

First try upgrading to a current version of OMLx. If graphic issues persist in the newer version of OMLx please open a new thread in the Support forum with a descriptive title and all requested information.

Welcome! We are glad to see you here and hope you will make this your home.

Like @ben79 , I am going to ask for info. :grinning:

The package version listed looks like it would be from the era of OMLx 3 and the thread title implies this as well. The EOL date for all versions of Lx 3 was 2019-07-16. I do not believe there would have been any new packages since then. I suspect the driver for intel hardware from that era would be in the form of a kernel module today, but am not sure.

To try the latest stable version or Rock release download from here:

6.0 Plasma6 X11 x86_64

Hello,
Thank you for the quick reply. I’m sorry I didn’t clarify. I am not using an old version. I am using the latest Rock release 6.0. This was just one of the posts I found when trying to research the issue before creating a new post since new posts seem to annoy the moderators or coders when people don’t try to find the solution beforehand. I couldn’t find a solution that worked, so I did create a new post here and tried to include all of the relevant info about my system and what I’ve tried.

Wow this is necroposting
