My new computer case arrived

All the parts have arrived to build my new PC. Just got it loaded and I still have a long way to go to get it ready. Lots of drives to fstab and such. Hopefully in a day or so. :grinning:

I just posted about possibly getting an all AMD laptop for gaming. Primarily because Linux and AMD mesh well together and with the Nvidia drivers, my mandriva experience has been a bit buggy. Could be just the distro, but I am eventually going to go all AMD anyway

Taking a break.

This one is AMD and I am running the on board graphics right now on wayland. I may stick the Nvidia 2070 Super in there to see just how it is running on the Nouveau drivers for the devs. I intend to put an Intel Arc B580 in it, but right now, you can only find them with the scalper fees. I have to wait for Kernel 6.13 to support it anyway, so I can be patient.

Still got a ways to go, but it’s been a long day.

I don’t know how the developers do it, but I went with the full iso rather than the slim and the thing was completely installed in 5 minutes. When I saw it on the other PC, I actually thought something was wrong. How can you install so much, so quickly? :astonished:

I just happened to see this at the top of the list in Discover. The first time I looked at it, it claimed to be a skype client, but I don’t see that now. I am a bit confused.

It’s not a call for help, but I can’t help but wonder…

I have 2 NVME drives. One has OML 25.01 (ROME) X11
One has OML 25.01 (ROME) Wayland

I tried running the Nouveau but I just couldn’t. Once I put the Nvidia card in, it didn’t work right till I install the Nvidia driver. I hoped for better, but nope. As soon as the Intel Arc B580 is widely available, I will get one.

I just got first back up of my /home and I will switch and get the other one. It’s been a lot of work.

So much for that idea. After installing the Nvidia card, the Wayland install blackscreens.

I keep wanting to switch to Nvidia so I can play with Cuda, but your experiences like yours is why that may never happen.

As a side note, I did manage to play a few matches of MechWarrior Online today, so I can verify that works fine.

@WilsonPhillips when do we get to see the system!

I turned off the LEDs in the case. I would have preferred it did not have a glass side panel.

It’s usually a LOT darker in here.

How do you like the ultrawide monitor? I always use two, but I’m thinking I need a third just for messaging.

I would like one wider than this, but I would have to spread the speakers out even more and most games would not support it anyway, so your mouse would leave the game and be all over the place. If you don’t game, it would not matter.

This is how I handle cable management under the desk and yes it is lit. It makes a huge difference when running wires.

These are not the ones I bought but look similar. Amazon.com: 2 Pack DELAMU Under Desk Cable Management Tray, Metal Cord Organizer for Desk, Wire Management Under Desk Shelf, Desk Wire Organizer, Desk Cable Organizer, Under Desk Cord Organizer : Electronics

That’s great! Thank you for sharing. I’m ordering some tonight. I also need to order a couple of those things that go on the floor that cables run through.

A 2 pack is most likely all you need under a desk. I have 3 under here, but this is an 8 foot long desk.
