My experience so far (ongoing)

Hello,

I have pulled the trigger and installed Mandriva on my main workstation.

First thing I noticed was that I got black screen. Okay, so it doesnt recognise the nvidia, so probably opensource drivers are not installed. Switched from discrete to hybrid and booted back up. Next, installation was straightforward. I did set my locale to british english and my keyboard to serbian latin. I set the easy password for my user and I did NOT select to login automatically, as I know that causes problems with KDE keychains. After booting up, I tried installing nvidia drivers, but no setting for that was in kde settings unlike Kubuntu. Tried running your Welcome app, and it failed to launch. I then ran it from terminal and it displayed an error with locale. Now, I did see earlier post about keymap not working and solution for it, so I fixed it by setting keymap to rs-latin. That fixed it and I installed nvidia drivers. Gotta say, that chromium doesnt load webpages very well on 4070 laptop without drivers and there was screen corruption on default drivers, hopefully that doesnt happen with proprietary. I will use this thread to update you on progress

After installin nvidia drivers, OM-welcome stopped working and terminal output is “GBM is not supported with the current configuration. Fallback to Vulkan rendering in Chromium.”. Chromium also crashed while I was typing this

We have a template in this section that you can use to provide us with things like what release you are using. It will matter and you may find things will not work depending on the release you chose.

nouveau is terrible, especially with Wayland. You will have a better experience with X11. om-welcome is how you install conveniences like non-free software in the easiest way. Since you have a 4070, I would also recommend using the open driver. How to enable that is pinned in the Support section.

We are not based on other distributions. There is also a pinned topic about that, as well as the best way to report issues.

X11 is default in Rock release 6 that I used

No, it’s not. There are two ISO types. One that is specified as wayland and one that is specified as X11.

There is no way for us to determine which you are using without more info.

The problem is the dual graphics cards. nvidia-prime is being tested in Cooker right now but is not in Rock. If there is no way to specify in your BIOS that you want to disable the integrated card, then it can cause issues. My guess is you may be using a notebook PC and possibly more than one monitor. This can have issues in a number of configurations, and most notably if you are using HDMI to connect to your external monitor. A simple search of the forum could provide you with this information. We are also aware there are other issues with the Legion Pro line, specifically the touch screen.

I dont have a touchscreen, I do have bios mux/switch. I will disable integrated graphic now in bios, and let you know of results

Saw that topic already, thanks. Okay, so Chromium still crashes, but OM-Welcome is back.

Can we get an error log for Chromium, please?

Sorry, I nuked it already. Will try again probably.
