Linux is toxic

We’re the “Bastards” that must come together and connect with the other bastards that have been outcasted and reclaim our entitlement of sensibility.

I’ll be honest bro… I have a severe case of “rebel fatigue”. Every group (especially political ones) loves LARPing as “da rebelz” right now. I think it’s so much cooler to play as the big daddy with the button-up & the belt.

Is Linux toxic?

It depends on which community we are talking about.

Just going to say it…

mcedit > nano > (stone tablet + chisel) > painful death > vim > emacs

i’d even say:
ms word >> mcedit >> nano…

Give Micro a try. I have been using it for years and I love it. Standard shortcut keys. Ctl+s, Ctl+q, etc.

Why did someone need to switch to clang? To then, cope bugs and crashes? Not ironically it could be a great distribution.

If you configure Emacs to CUA Mode or Ergoemacs or xah-fly-keys, it will definitely be better than nano.

I don’t think Linux users are particularly to blame for their toxicity. To a large extent, it’s their system that’s to blame. For a long time, and in some cases still today, there were no necessary drivers, programs, stability, convenience, community, etc. Because of this, they often perceive it as a challenge rather than a problem and believe that anyone who wants to use this system must earn it by going through all of this. And so they treat other people accordingly.

Tech nerds in general have a reputation for being sorta toxic, in that they sometimes tend to look down their noses at people who are not tech nerds. You don’t see that too much in other fields of expertise.

I have to definitely disagree with you on that. Have you ever been to a truck stop? Get ten old-school truck drivers together. Ask them about the “crazy four wheeler stunt drivers on the road.” Not only do they look down their noses at those people who believe that rules of the road are just a nice suggestion that doesn’t apply, but if one of those crazy drivers shows up to challenge any one of those truck drivers on their driving skills, they will quickly stop arguing over whatever it is they are arguing about and quickly field dress the offender who dared to question their driving skills.

Except the flatbed drivers, perhaps. Everyone knows drivers pulling skateboards can’t park and use reverse.

The rule of thumb is, old-school truck drivers will argue about everything except when it comes to the “crazy four wheeler stunt drivers,” commercial motor vehicle enforcement, hazards of dealing with dispatcher’s brains and sailboat fuel, warehouse people, and skateboard haulers lack of ability to park and use reverse.

Same with mechanics. Every visit into a car repair store is like being around adult teenagers, who act like they are better than you just because they do it every day from 9 to 5 while you do it probably once in two years :man_facepalming:
