I’m guessing you, the latest 3 ones, are going to be banned for becoming too much serious and polite.
Thank you for your reply.
I came to OMA to avoid left leaning politics. With the creator of the kernel being left leaning himself, I feel a little unsure whether Linux will remain a thing for everyone, if it ever was, though I believe at some point it was. So, if there was a OpenMandriva or MandrivaBSD, I would definitely use that.
I am not very savvy with coding, otherwise I would love to participate in OMA. I think my strongest point is providing tutorials for things which I regularly do on a linux-based system, and translating stuff to Brazilian Portuguese. I assume the workforce here needs more people, and I strongly hope that we do get. On the mean time, I’ll find some different way to contribute.
I have not; I don’t even know what that is. It’s something to localize software and sites with AI?
Perhaps when dealing with a huge amount of text it is interesting, but I am generally not a fan of AI. I could use it if it meant speeding up my work, but I worry about accuracy. I would just rather go without! I hope what I am saying is not outrageous.
PS: we might get banned for off topic; in that case, it was nice to meet you~!
@secretfirefox for translations look at this thread just created (it may need more to add): Contribute to OpenMandriva Transifex - Tips and the QA category
Now now please let’s stop this shame and go back in topic!
Where is the well known expected toxic aggressive Linux behaviour?
My dear guys I’m disappointed.
In respect of our CoC the non-compliant comments will be automatically deleted without any further notice.
He is our president and I am proud of him. I would clap for him, but one hand is glued to the floor.
And if nothing works out I should come to work here as a DEI hire! Because nothing screams capability than being called to a job just to meet a quota!
I turn my back for a couple of hours and it all starts getting nice and polite again. How can I possibly be a victim if know one is trying to be offensive. My vote is definately for President Gand Emperor Dictator @rugyada the only person that seems to have any common sense left in this topic.
How dare you call me polite? Don’t impose your sexist, colonist ideologies onto me. I identify as a victim.
Ah thats more like it
I am glad to know others have considered BSD alternatives if Linux continues to get worse. This has been seriously on my mind for about a year and if I had the time would have put OpenBSD an one of my old ThinkPads for a test drive.
Wow, that topic went pretty weird, maybe I should seek for a reason to be offended…
What do you mean a “reason to be offended?” All I need is an excuse!
I’m afraid Linux IS toxic at it’s core. Take a look at this post from the creator of the kernel himself. I love the technology but the views of many of the contributors make me more than a little ill. Of course, that is simply from my perspective. Others may not find it to be a problem at all.
It seems that nowadays, everybody think that dsiplaying their morale and values is a mandatory step in every human relationship, and a deal breaker.
It’s a sad thing, I personnaly do not care if you are woke or not, a believer or an atheist, it is just irrelevant to me when we are talking code or tech.
Exactly. Linus is free to have whatever views he wishes but to word it as such that anybody that doesn’t share his views is a “moron” is disgraceful. Personally, I disagree with his views vehemently but that’s not the real issue here. It’s the condescending tone and pompous arrogance displayed while unnecessarily virtue signaling. As you said, personal views such as these should be rendered irrelevant when we are discussing tech. Which is exactly why I migrated to OM just as fast as I possibly could.
“Which is exactly why I migrated to OM just as fast as I possibly could.” most of the recent “bandwagoners” (which I am one) are here for this very one specific reason, and I hope we are not gonna screw the peacefull harbour we just found.
I believe that most of the posts in this thread are a good indicator that that won’t happen. I understand that most of the posts here are all good natured fun but I haven’t seen one person scream that they are offended in any seriousness. It’s a great thing to see and experience again in a Linux forum
I’m offended I was not part of this conversation sooner, you should all be cancelled because of leaving members out!
I don’t know what to be offended about today. I don’t have a TV to tell me.
Time to start learning C so I can fork the Linux kernel and continue on free of international politics.
