Libvirt dependency issue OM6 (qemu-kvm.x86_64) somewhat solved

When i fired up virt manager i get a message that there is no governor for this connection or kvm module is missing
So Ok im in libvirt group as a user

groups
kuba lp wheel kvm audio video users input render **libvirt** lpadmin pipewire network storage sambashare

Before I add my self to libvrt group I was getting following error

sudo systemctl restart libvirtd.service

× libvirtd.service - libvirt legacy monolithic daemon
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/libvirtd.service; enabled; preset: enabled)
    Drop-In: /usr/lib/systemd/system/service.d
             └─10-timeout-abort.conf

I searched forum against 10-timeout-abort.conf with inconclusive results

sudo systemctl restart libvirtd.service or reboot does nothing

Now heare is the kicker
This restart message is misleading as fuck.
**sudo systemctl restart libvirtd.service

× libvirtd.service - libvirt legacy monolithic daemon
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/libvirtd.service; enabled; preset: enabled)
Drop-In: /usr/lib/systemd/system/service.d
└─10-timeout-abort.conf**

Even if you installed lib64virt-qemu0.x86_64 or virt-manager.noarch
then add your self to proper group, in the end do restart…
Nothing will work. as long as you wont install qemu-kvm.x86_64 you are in woods.
Nothing you install before treat this qemu-kvm.x86_64 as a dependency.

I wasted half a day on this so that you don’t have to

Please add this bugger qemu-kvm.x86_64 as a dependency for lib64virt-qemu0.x86_64orvirt-manager.noarch`. Better yet for both you also need this shit **qemu-img.x86_64 ** if you want to use qcou2.img instead of raw image disks. Correct me if im wrong but qcou2 is kinda standard vm disk image??

I’m not sure when this package got broken. I installed this the other day and I am not missing this package. I have yet to try to run it, because I have been waiting for some Rock 6.0 releases to test.

Hi @WilsonPhillips I think those things will be happening till OM 6 become really stable. For now, I would call the newest 6 release an RC version. I’m no linux guru, just a guy who is able to more or less read plain English and use Google. I’m also muleheaded. For someone who just want to use a system without problems, OM 5 is a great. OM 6 is a no-go or no no for now in my opinion.
Maybe, or maybe not, it is a good idea to mark om 6 release as RC on the project site for a time being.

I tried 3 different ISOs. Then I have few funny (stumbles, mishaps hiccups) funny until i set everything quite right but not exactly right yet.

What is funny for me may be tiring or annoying for less stubborn people.

Overall, OM 6 is great. I used 5 i use 6 i will be use 7.
I will donate regularly and I will still be this grumpy dude with strange questions on forum :stuck_out_tongue:

Take care @WilsonPhillips

I don’t know. I simply installed it from the other thread and started using it this morning. It seems to work fine. The instructions were for Rock 5 and I installed it on ROME.

@WilsonPhillips i found that sudo dnf install virt-manager sudo dnf install qemu-kvm sudo dnf install qemu-img sudo dnf install iptables

before when I first install OM few mouths back and totally forgot about it.

Error messages from libvrt daemon totally mislead me.
Anyway, this stuff should be a bundle, especially when your installation starts with sudo dnf install virt-manager.
I installed shit tone of things package by package. Firstly, used dnf search to figure the f out what I need to make this whole mess running.

Thank you :hugs:
