@dev-stonework Welcome! and thank you so much for that info.

NOTE: Installing from Discover gives you the Flatpak version.

I am sitting here going through the repos’ package list and seeing what programs I need to install. After so long, I figured that might be the easiest way to remember them all.

bat. Yep that’s one

btop. Yep that’s another

This is going to take a while. It’s a huge list.

I think I have everything done except getting my case LEDs working. OpenRGB tells me the i2c_dev module is not loaded. It has been a year and a half and I can’t remember what I did to fix it the first time. They default to changing colors through the spectrum and I just want them to be a steady cyan. It’s a shame I can’t just set it in the UEFI.

Strange. Whatever was affecting Plasma not loging in earlier was also affecting the module not loading. I opened OpenRGB and it worked. I have no other explaination.

I have still had no Brave crashes at all and I was one who had that problem on this particular PC. Come on back my friend.

I have all of the OMDark themes applied to Plasma, Konsole, Kate, Kwrite and Micro. Everything else just grabs the theme from the System, and I have all the programs running that I can think of. I have Matrix and Discord going.

It looks like I am back!

I’m still blaming Lunduke!

I’m back as well. This post is from Brave (non-Origin) on OMLx. Woo!

Excellent!

An update to the broken power pole issue. It turned out that thieves were trying to steal the telephone cable off the power poles at night. They did not realize how well attached they are to the poles and when they tied to them and tried to pull them down, they broke 3 power poles. These poles were only a few years old. I don’t know if they have caught the thieves yet. That happened twice in a week. The first time, they only broke 1 pole.

So, that was the reason we lost power for thousands of people at 5am.

Welcome back @WilsonPhillips !

I can’t say I ever had issues with Brave, but I’m on Rock and figure most people are on ROME. I also only started with OpenMandriva late 2025.

This has been the case for me at least. I don’t have much to worry about on my system, either. After I got OpenMandriva in a good state on my machine, I had to switch my focus to family and health matters and that’s kept me occupied up until just recently. But I fully intend to keep hanging around and helping out in small ways at least.

That’s good to hear. Maybe Rock never did have issues with Brave? I seem to recall most (all?) people with Brave issues were on ROME. I’m glad you made the move to OMLx and I am also glad to be back!

Welcome to the OpenMandriva community @dev-stonework and welcome back @eepardaku !

I’m glad to hear your OM and Brave are working now @eepardaku . I’ve got the original Brave still too, but I’ll probably give Brave Origin a try on my next install.

Are you still in Vicksburg, MS?

Regarding not so much activity on forum and matrix, I’ve been doing so little beyond upgrading my Cooker systems that I may have started to forget how to do things… If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Yes, still in Vicksburg.

It is nice when a system “just works.”

What were they using to pull down the cables, causing the poles to break? An old Case steam tractor? I have seen the aftermath of drunk drivers hitting those poles. The pole always wins. At least around the Great Lakes. We must use thicker poles. Ice loading during freezing rain happens when going into winter almost every year. That is plenty of additional weight.

I don’t know what they were using. Those telephone cables are attached pretty good. They are not going to just fall off.

I sure hope they catch them though.

Interesting note Mississippi was the first state I learned to spell… Lol
