Nobody is talking about is the fact that ABC is still butt-hurt from that $15 million lawsuit it lost to President Trump. I highly suspect that when Kimmel started running his mouth with regard to Charlie Kirk, the stockholders set the switchboard on fire at ABC. Then the legal department of lawyers who just lost that lawsuit were able to see what is coming down the road at them like a 1966 Oshkosh with both wings extended and maximum concrete over the drive axles. They decided that dumping Kimmel was the better option rather than losing another lawsuit.
When in doubt, follow the money.
Little Jimmy can always start up his own channel on YouTube for all his followers of what supposedly passes for comedy but is really just about destroying anyone who is not anti-America, anti-Trump, anti-MAGA, and pro-Antifa. Nobody is stopping him.
Well, perhaps Google is stopping him. It is possible that Google doesn’t want that lawsuit either.

I think that the case of Jimmy Kimmel is obviously different because he was blatantly misleading the public on public airwaves.
There is a clear and obvious difference between losing your job because you aren’t doing your duty or don’t want to work, vs you having an opinion or speaking facts that GreyCorp Inc doesn’t like.
What Jimmy Kimmel did was the equivalent of a doctor saying you should kill/not treat a patient because of X belief. It was a clear and present danger. “Fire in a theatre” type speech. I.e, it is moral and constitutionally viable for Kimmel to get fired because it was him using the privileges his job afforded him to potentially irrepairable harm to people.
Your racist Uncle Jimmy getting fired from Amazon Inc. trying to scrape by packing boxes on pallets getting his only source of income/livelihood executed because he posted a crime statistic on X.com is morally protected. I refuse to believe that the Founding Fathers in the US had this in mind writing the First Amendment. If they did envision the rich having the working class by the throat regarding their speech, then they’re wrong and Americans (including myself, and everyone else around the world) need to work fix it. That’s not what “free speech” is in practicality, because most people in our current situation obviously aren’t able to reasonably exercise their human rights.

If you tell your boss to fuck off and get fired, that’s not a violation of any right. If your boss catches you telling the customers to fuck off, and you get fired, that ain’t a violation, either.
As far as Disney/ABC are concerned, their customers are the viewers, which make up a pretty large group, and Kimmel basically told a large portion of them to fuck off, using company resources, and on company time, and got fired for it.
Seems pretty straightforward to me.

I agree with this, too. I think it is obvious that what you do during company time, wearing the uniform, and using company resources is the company’s business. For the most part, what you do off the clock and off the company’s property should be your own business in turn. That unfortunately isn’t our reality right now.
Of all times, as the tides of red-team-blue-team politics shift into right wing hands (you know, the people who have been victims of cancel culture over the past two decades for speaking inconvenient facts), this is the perfect moment to reconcile this issue. Right now, I see a lot of Red Team playing Red Team Politics and vengefully “cancelling” the Blue Teamers. Once again, I am severely alarmed and disappointed. Republicans (and other “mainstream conservative right wingers”) do this: every. single. time. The gaping wide grasp of victory once again snatched from us being able to actually provide meaningful change instead of perpetually simping for the impossible goal of keeping the status quo in line. Who benefits? The rich. The only people with actual freedom/rights in this country, and Republicans to sacrifice their god-given rights just to line up for the next latest opportunity to defend them.
Corporations aren’t nearly equivalent an individual person, and therefore don’t have civil rights. Why are we still pretending as if they are? Why continue defending our oppressors and perpetuating their agenda? It is utter delusion.
Much as the commie’s “Soviet Man” doesn’t exist, I believe that the libertarians “Competent Man” is also a fiction, in fact, so is the “rational man.”
If you have a small group of people with the power to pass and enforce laws and tax people, then that will always become a tyrannical oligarchy, every single time, no matter what restraints you try to put on the group, no matter how the members of said group are selected.
Also, history has demonstrated that people will infallibly rally to the sociopath’s banner. The Tytler cycle is baked into the human condition, and the only way to break the cycle, is, as I see it, is the Crazy Eddy solution: Anarchy.

Which one? I there were several who were sent to prison.
There is a 70-year-old grandmother still in prison for “being a terrorist” on January 6th, 2021. Despite no real evidence.
Then there was Kyle Rittenhouse, who shot two in what was clearly self-defense during the St. George of Floyd “peaceful protests” when the protesters were destroying everything they could in Kenosha. Thankfully, he had a real judge and jury, not some clown judge in a kangaroo court with a jury that already determined his outcome before the trial started.
Why is that? So much utopia is happening in China and Africa. South Africa has so much utopia that they no longer need farmers, so they are getting rid of them, just like in the utopian Soviet Union in the 1920s during Stalin. Isn’t utopia wonderful? Especially when sarcasm has been banned.

This tread forced me to read US Constitution just to have basic idea about what you guys talking about in terms of all of those amendments.
I’m a foreigner merely an observer, bystander. So please take everything I wrote with a grain of salt.
By my point of view, any free speech could be hate speech and I’m fine with that. I must point out that I hate the term hate speech altogether. The term was coin out as semantic gag to stop any speech someone may not like.
Have no problem with Fuck Biden, fuck trump fuck Jews Fuck Poles or fuck niggers. Yes i used N word so what. I do not care if somebody called me a cracker or white trash. Don’t care I’m not as fragile.
But sill Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences have a huge flaw.
There is a huge difference when some Mr nobody like me says “let’s kill those filthy niggers or crackers or left/right-wingers or whomever, and when somebody with huge following does the same thing.”
Let say Johny Deep wile being drunk made allusions to end Trump.
Lets take Jimmy Kimmel that “jokes” on leave unvaccinated to die in case of emergency.
Or Hassan Piker, who wants to" gut out conservatives and spill their capitalistic blood."
Some people may not know who Deep, Kimmel or Piker are, and that is totally fine. Yet we should acknowledge that those people, are liked, respected and idolized by many. And there is a smoked gun. Same thing apply to people with huge TICK TOCK YT or any others huge social.media following.
If we agree on that they can be sued for their irresponsible free speech. because it can be frankly solicitation to in example murder. (I hope solicitation is a proper word in this context.) Then we find are selves in a situation that we do not need huge chunk of so called patriot act. This act is basically Hammer of Witches for all.
Being abele to sue someone for solicitation to hurt someone is another thing then some big legislation on terror.
Let me emphasize that. Im not for banning free speech. Lets someone scream on top of his lungs kill that fucker cracker/ nigger racist, facist, non-believer (put all slur under the sun here) XYZ and his wife children and what not.
But let a man defend against that. Let the room for attacked person to decide if he wants proceed with legal action against the attacker or not.
For me case is simple, if they constantly tell you they want ya dead they mean it. Does not matter if they on the right side or the left side of the isle.
Else, you ask?
Else we will have more Charlies Kirk’s and Mark and Melissa Hortman’s.
Now politicians dancing on their graves trying to really take back your free speech on a state level. And they use, what they always used in such cases. It goes as follows human emotions and anger as a weapon against very same people who are angry, and they are angry rightfully so.

I always understood “not free from consequences” to mean social consequences. I’m sure there are millions of normal people that would interpret it the same way. Millions of us are being fooled by violence disguised as reasonable language.

I love that people are willing to say this. RIP Charlie : ( I gotta say. Well cool to see a community willing to discuss these things hopefully in a sane way. I’m sure all of at this point Oct. 10 2025 at the time of writing this have seen so much hateful folks promoting the death of Charlie. Many of these people big in open source projects. Its awful. And we must notice when people show you who they are. We can hope that people change, but we can’t pretend to not see what we have seen. People celebrating political violence because they disagree with what a person had to say and his ideas. Peace Peace stay safe out there. I love linux btw.
