@ben79 @WilsonPhillips So delete the librewolf.repo file?
Yes sir
option1:
option2:
but move instead of delete
Okay, so I copied librewolf.repo to another location and used the command-line to delete the original (because Dolphin wouldn’t let me delete it due to needing sudo). So that’s deleted now.
Doing sudo dnf clean all;dnf clean all;dnf repolist
afterwards as you asked outputs this:
[mandriva@openmandriva-x8664 ~]$ sudo dnf clean all;dnf clean all;dnf repolist
[sudo] password for mandriva:
7 files removed
7 files removed
repo id repo name
rolling-znver1 OpenMandriva Rolling - znver1
rolling-znver1-extra OpenMandriva Rolling - Extra - znver1
rolling-znver1-non-free OpenMandriva Rolling - Non-free - znver1
rolling-znver1-restricted OpenMandriva Rolling - Restricted - znver1
[mandriva@openmandriva-x8664 ~]$
As you suggested earlier, should I now do this?:
Try sudo dnf dsync
and if it does not work do the PackageKit stuff and try again.
Yes, that also clean the Discover cache, just in case.
Then:
sudo dnf clean all;dnf clean all
sudo dnf distro-sync --refresh --allowerasing 2>&1| tee dsync-log.txt
Sorry, but how should I go about clearing the Discover cache? I can’t seem to find any info about that myself.
Please don’t “describe”
I need to see the console output. Run the commands and post the console output here.
It may take a while until you get the prompt again.
What do you mean? You’re asking me to clear the Discover cache right? I was just saying that I’m not sure how to do that. I wasn’t describing anything.
Unless you were meaning you want me to show you the output before clearing the Discover cache? This is the output:
[mandriva@openmandriva-x8664 ~]$ sudo rm -rf /var/cache/PackageKit/* /var/cache/app-info/*
[sudo] password for mandriva:
[mandriva@openmandriva-x8664 ~]$ sudo pkcon refresh force
Refreshing cache [=========================]
Loading cache [=========================]
Querying [=========================]
Loading cache [=========================]
Finished [=========================]
[mandriva@openmandriva-x8664 ~]$
This explains what the commands do
No the output you just posted is the result of the commands indeed.
That’s ok.
Now you can dsync if you so wish:
sudo dnf clean all;dnf clean all
sudo dnf distro-sync --refresh --allowerasing 2>&1| tee dsync-log.txt
Oh, my bad. Because you said “clean” instead of “cleans”, I thought that the word “that” was a typo, and that you actually meant “than”. Therefore, I read your sentence as “Yes than also clean the Discover cache, just in case”
And it should have been obvious to me you were referring to what the command does, It’s just very late and it’s starting to get hard to concentrate. So sorry for the confusion.
Okay, I’ll do the dsync now. Am I supposed to be in a specific directory when I perform the sudo dnf clean all;dnf clean all
command?
No problem, I know what happens when it’s late and we are tired
No, open console from the menu or the icon and you will find your transaction log in your home.
You may or may not proceed with the distro sync. If in doubt abort the transaction and attach the file here.
I did the distro sync now, and here’s the file.
dsync-log.txt (368 Bytes)
It didn’t find any updates, but did not give errors that the repos were not connecting. Had you already run it before?
Not that I can recall. I checked if there was any mention of the command on my previous two recent support posts, but it wasn’t mentioned so I don’t think I used the command at any point than. But I did
The above is a command I did earlier, but I’m not sure if that’s related.
Sorry, but It’s insanely late and I have to get to sleep, and it’s really hard to concentrate now. I’ll continue in this thread tomorrow.
Insanely late… I can see the picture, I get that very often.
See you tomorrow-your-time.
It may well be that you don’t have any update as it’s pretty recent.
So what do you suggest I try next? Should I try update the system now that the repo file has been edited?
From the output you attached it seems that system, OM repository side, is up to date.
See the importance of the console logs?
Now I would restore the third party files you moved earlier back to /etc/yum.repos.d
- one by one.
As for Brave you just want to edit enabled=0
to enabled=1
Then:
sudo dnf clean all;dnf clean all
sudo dnf distro-sync --refresh --allowerasing 2>&1| tee dsync2-log.txt
Note the “dsync2” change to not overwrite the older log.
This would not matter right now as your log basically did not contain anything useful besides “Nothing do to” but will matter for the next updates hence take it as a general good practice for the future.
Next times you want to keep a “dsync3” -and so on- transactions logs.
Also as a general tip always look at what the console returns to you.
If you feel that something is going wrong or you are in doubt just abort the current transaction (the dsync/update/install/downgrade/whatever process) by typing N (no) and, again, copy/paste your log if it’s short or attach the log file to your messages.
You can of course name the file as you wish as long as you are able to properly identify what it pertains to.
I’m trying to guide you as a ‘new to OpenMandriva’ user. It may be useful to some newcomers as well.
Actually what came later in this discussion would be OffTopic and should have gone to its own discussion for future documentation but well…
Let’s fix your repository issue now so once you are all set with that you can go ahead with the original post problem.
Okay, I did the commands and it asked me if I want to confirm the transaction and I typed y (yes). I just noticed something strange though afterward. The QMPlay2 app disappeared. So I checked the dsync2-log.txt and I can see that qmplay2 along with a bunch of other packages were erased. qmplay2 came with the system at install, but many of the others were installed manually by me after; eg Darktable & Kodi.
dsync2-log.txt (16.1 KB)
You were supposed to answer N for No. There is no undo for this. It looks like the things that were removed at the top of the log had new versions installed at the bottom of the log. Once it is all working, you can install anything you want.
How is everything working at this point?
@LeeTalbert suggested these packages earlier.
sudo dnf in ntfs* lib64ntfs*
