Infine sulla tastiera inglese tradizionale c’è la “riga numerica” con “0” sul lato destro. Il tasto successivo è trattino/sottolineatura. La chiave successiva è uguale/più. E infine backspace

They are also using (roughly) the same versions of the installer rather than the older plasma5 version.
In fact, be sure to try the MX KDE version. Just in case this is a KDE related issue.
If you get past that error then we may be able to grab the settings from them.
If they have the same problem then we would try a text based installer like debian.
You say you still have “the old plasma 5” usb - what version of OM? The older iso files are still on sourceforge so I can grab the same one for testing
Also according to the hardware list you posted above you do have a GPU - specifically a GTX 440.
Finally on the traditional english keyboard there is the “number row” with “0” on the right side. The next key is dash/underscore. The next key after that is equal/plus. And finally backspace
