Can't use split tunnel with Private Internet Access

Hello,

Requirements:

I have Searched the forum for my issue and found nothing related or helpful
I have checked the Resources category (Resources Index)
I have reviewed the Wiki for relevant information
I have read the the Release Notes and Errata

OpenMandriva Lx version:
OpenMandriva Lx release 25.12 (ROME) Rolling for x86_64

Desktop environment (KDE, LXQT…):
KDE

Description of the issue (screenshots if relevant):
Can’t enable split tunnel with Private Internet Access

Relevant informations (hardware involved, software version, logs or output…):

  • PIA version: 3.7.0+08412

I’m using this same version on Garuda Linux, KDE Neon 24.04 and Ubuntu Unity 26.04 (devel) and split tunnel works.

Here’s my Garuda, when I inquired ChatGPT

$ zgrep CONFIG_PROC_EVENTS /proc/config.gz
zgrep CONFIG_CONNECTOR /proc/config.gz

CONFIG_PROC_EVENTS=y
CONFIG_CONNECTOR=y

And for OpenMandriva

$ zgrep CONFIG_PROC_EVENTS /proc/config.gz
$ zgrep CONFIG_CONNECTOR /proc/config.gz
CONFIG_CONNECTOR=m

Unfortunately, I don’t see where we are packaging PIA.

We can’t really apply this to our distro. Mostly because, we don’t package it. If you are using the binary from their site you will need to reach out them for support, or you will need to use the Flatpak. If the issue is with the Flatpak, you will need to contact the author of the Flatpak.

I used their binary file.

I was pointing out that it works on both Garuda (Arch) & Ubuntu. And it could be a missing kernel module that’s causing the problem.

I found similar issues, but with Raspberry Pi, and they recommended to setup net_cls cgroup.

It didn’t work for him, but I guess it still might be worth trying.

I’m also curious if someone got it working

There are several differences between those distros and OMLx. The program should really be packaged first so it can be tested and the issues can be resolved correctly.

Or, you can use the Flatpak.
