Brave browser crashes randomly. Chromium too!

Yes it does on top of that if you have account on cda.pl polish paid / free streaming platform with movies, and try to play anything from theirs paid / premium library you get this error

Wystąpił błąd podczas odtwarzania. Odśwież stronę i spróbuj ponownie.
(An error occurred during playback. Refresh the page and try again.)
(error code: P1036 / 6001)

I will write to cda about this yet it is unusual
I have few other weird software gliches on other software.
But this is not a place for them

PS any polish user out there with cda account who had tis issue.
Is it drm and /or codec issue??

cda or any other drm issue sollution https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/articles/360023851591-How-do-I-view-DRM-protected-content

I don’t know what that says, because Google Translate won’t do it.

Thats why i put english translation in to a curly brackets

(An error occurred during playback. Refresh the page and try again.)

I know polish looks like wifi password not a language :stuck_out_tongue:

Funny enough, it stops crashes after I switched to Xfce. Weird. Recent kde so not like brave and vice versa

At what arch? x86_64 or znver?
Is Kde and xfce same arch?
It is important to track this.

x86_64 iso

Is Kde and xfce same arch? yes

On xfce problem dissapeared

While on kde is present and persistent

So case for @bero
Maybe missing library or something like that. Probably splits are “fruiting” again (I don’t know if there is such a saying in English, but in Polish it is)

Spoko też nie wiem.

In the past I had issues with Brave running extremely slow when kwallet was in use and I had to set up a wallet for it to stop. It makes me wonder if plasma browser integration or kwallet might be the culprit.

I have no idea

This is what I mean:

dnf list *browser-integration
Updating and loading repositories:
Repositories loaded.
Installed packages
plasma6-browser-integration.x86_64 6.3.4-2 <unknown>

Available packages
plasma-browser-integration.x86_64 5.27.12-1 cooker-x86_64

The one listed under “Available” is for Plasma 5. I think the Plasma 6 obsoletes it when installed. Maybe verify if that is installed on your system. I also had to disable the kwallet service on my Cooker box at one point because I did not want a wallet for my browser and it wouldn’t stop prompting me to set it up.

I did a fresh install with no restore of configs from znver1. Everything is brand new ROME x86_64 and I still get crashes with Brave.

Well, that is certainly very disappointing news. I was going to do the same thing. I’m still running Rome znver1 and haven’t updated it since February sometime. I still update Brave, though. No crashes ever.

I am reinstalling znver1 right now.

Hold the presses! In testing something unrelated, I find that Chromium crashes just the same way. It’s not just Brave.

OK. For everyone who has this issue, test Chromium too.

Sorry for the dumb question, what is znver1? AMD specific version or something?

Yes. It is optimized for Ryzen. Would you tell the difference by seat of the pants, probably not. I know I can’t. I’m sure benchmark software could see it.

I see.
BTW, it reminds me…
Maybe one of the devs will have a need for the laptop I have.
Will do a new post about it.

Interestingly enough, I have no problems with Brave on my 2 systems (one running ROME & an older PC running Rock), but Chromium, on both, crashes quite often. Fortunately, I use Brave for work, so Chromium crashing hasn’t been that bad…but this crashing issue is definitely interesting.

Just saw this and can say that it happened to me once (Rome, Zen optimized) and to my wife’s computer (Rome, x86) about 4 times last week. Nothing since, though.
