AppimageLauncher claims to integrate “deeply” into the system. So I assume some part of it keeps running until a reboot.
EDIT: Just now, I did a fresh install of ROME Slim in a VM. Appimages are working out of the box.
How many app images require python?
OH
Also I need FUSE apparently
So Slim does have things missing. For example python and FUSE
EDIT: woops just saw the slim thing. But I think it is using python just let me check.
EDIT: when I removed* Flathub gearbox may have removed things. Although I do have Proton-qT installed on flathub too…
Ok python is installed
it’s just 3.11
and apparently I need 3.10? It should be backward compatible right?
I’m going to do a clean reinstall of slim to see what’s going on. I have nothing major installed.
Instead of doing a clean install I decided to just test my liveboot media.
Which is interesting since I got the same python Issue as before.
And I couldn’t double click the file after I made it an executeable the same as last time.
I remember checking the shasum and md5sum.
Is this an issue with Dolphin File Manager?
Just used a different app image that wasn’t the first two I tried. Protonup-qt And Etcher’s App image are not working when I double click for some reason.
Can you on your slim version check ProtonUp-QT?
select the first release on the list
If it doesn’t work clicking on it. try running it in konsole and if you see get the same prompt
The ProtonUp-Qt Appimage isn’t working for me either. I’m getting the same Python errors as in your screenshot.
EDIT: I tried the Etcher Appimage and it works.
Well that’s Helpful. thank you so much.
That’s really nice to know because I’m testing gaming on Mandriva to see what we need for a gaming-focused Mandriva Spin and protonUp-Qt is really needed. It’s going to be helpful when we point the app image doesn’t work in our Documentation.
Again the flatpak for it works so we can focus on that.
Does the ProtonUp-Qt- app image work on Rome-full?
Also was it Balena Etcher? I’m pretty sure it was marked as 32 bit and was the only app image listed on the website.
I just noticed the regular install for etcher works. So I’m thinking its a 32 bit thing?
Yes, ProtonUp-Qt is working in ROME Full. Interesting.
EDIT: I tried installing “libgthread” in ROME Slim and now it’s working there as well.
I used the Etcher x64 Appimage from their Github. The 32 bit one doesn’t work for me either.
I’ll include that- Thank you!
I just want to thank everyone here who helped out today. You’re Awesome.
It’s interesting that you have to Install libgthread in Rome Slim. Thanks again!
Not really ‘not supported’, but ‘not provided’.
Probably what may be not supported is the AppimageLauncher
Also
Of course it has, and that’s not a bug.
It’s Slim by design, otherwise it would be the Fat iso
The users choosing the Slim iso are supposed to know which are and how to install the packages they need.
Well Yeah that became obvious quickly. Also yes the App Image Launcher is Broken on all Distros currently. The issues I had got solved yesterday.
Also how would I know to look in
coffee break - Came here from Lunduke.com
When the only revelant forum post in the search In “support” was this issue. https://forum.openmandriva.org/t/app-image-launcher-does-not-load-images/5531
It’s nice to know to look Everywhere on the forum not just “Support”
We try to get people to post threads in the proper places, but hey, what can you do?
Also to be fair. It wasn’t that ALL app images weren’t Working it was just the ProtonUp-Qt app image because it was missing a lib that wasn’t included in slim.
Keep a good list of any files you have to add to Slim to make this work.
Yes, Support is not the only category to look into. There is also Development and the very useful Resources by the way.
