Y.A.R. Yet Another Review

Yet Another Review!
First and foremost thank you to everyone on this forum. If I have had problems trey have been solved and were very courteous in helping.

I, like many others, came here from Lunduke, and as I have stated before it feels nice to actually matter some place and not looked down on. I appreciate that the only thing that matters is the code here. I started off by installing Rome with Wayland (as I did not read the documentation) and was frustrated that stuff did not work. Then after reading the documentation I was pleasantly surprised with how the distro ran. I ran into the normal bugs of me using an Nvidia card but I was not put off because of it. While admittedly I would have given up and said well I will stick with Mint.(My main distro).

I did install Rock(in a VM not as my main), and it was as stated rock solid. It was fast and snappy. The only hangups were when I was playing around with switching to Rome from rock as I was just testing the process. It lagged a bit but like I said it probably has more to do with my choice of hardware and a small dev team. It is nothing I cannot work around

I will be replacing my Mint main distro for Rome, but I’m going a slim install. Overall I am greatly pleased with the direction this distribution is going. Wayland is still a work in progress but to be honest I don’t care that much about it. I generally prefer a cinnamon desktop but KDE is a close second gir me as well as budgie. But if things run smooth and I can use it as a daily driver then I’m in.

Again thank you to all of the devs for your hard work on a great distro. I am sure with the hopeful influx old people coming over this distro will be on top of lists before to long.

Unfortunately, I had to reinstall Mint as my main distro. There seems to be a problem with Nvidia where after I log in and get to the desktop, the screen will randomly go black have a cursor and try to log into sddm again, and it keeps doing that.

I don’t have nvidia, but I heard that the newest driver has had some regressions. Do you know which driver you were using?

565.77 I believe. It was the latest one in the repos for Rome. I even tried to switch desktops to Budgie. I think it had more to do with sddm, and I could not figure out how to get lightdm instead.
