Hello everyone, i have been on Arch for 15 years and i felt like i wanted to explore some of the recommendation of Lunduke. I decided to try using the rome 6.0 install of plasma. On the welcome screen, i have tried to install a few recommended package. Selected Maui-Shell, but it failed. Going from another way of doing it using one of the store, it seem plasma6-bluedevil’s conflicting with the old plasma5’s bluedevil package for Maui-Shell. I decided that it was not that much of an issue to swap back later and removed plasma6-bluedevil. The install for Maui-Shell have succeed this time around. Looking at the package manager, it was lacking a few package, i decided to add them. Afterward, i tried rebooting and loging into it. The login manager by default don’t seem to offer Maui-Shell but i can see a cask (wayland), once i login, it give me a black screen. I have also tried to install the 4 apps with Maui in the description but not in the package name from the bottom of dnf search maui. Sadly, 2 of them seem to be from 2023 and are broken and not wanting to install due probably to an older glibc version for it (or something else) in the dependancy (i did not verify that last one).
So essentially :
-Broken button on welcome screen for maui-shell due to plasma6-bluedevil conflict with older plasma5 version
-Black screen on maui-shell on what i suspect’s the login option (cask wayland), unless it’s not and it’s not shown.
-2 of the 4 app for complementary of maui-shell (in their description, not name) are from 2023 are won’t install.
Broken button for maui-shell on login screen’s an issue for newbie’s impression of Linux if they are distrohoping.
Hoping i will be able to help further and probably help by compiling package i use for you guys or something like that. I hope this contribution would be helpful.
