Apologies you are having difficulty updating installed ROME system. This specifically address using ROME isos #4172 and 4271.

This part is essential and would not be obvious to a new user:
Boot system in console mode and login at the prompt >>> Important you are booting in to console mode from Advanced Options line in the grub menu not booting in to your graphical desktop.
