I’m trying to install Rome with Plasma 6 x11 (non-Ryzen). My download has failed multiple times. Now that I’ve gotten it working, it’s been running for over two hours and still hasn’t finished. With my internet speed I should be able to finish this download in under 10 minutes. I was able to download multiple ISO files from other sites while this download was running.
Is there an option for torrenting? I found mentions to it in the forum, but none of the links are currently working. I’ve searched the website too but didn’t find anything.
ktorrentis the default in Plasma. If you don’t have it, you probably used slim. I have no idea if the newer ISO’s are being seeded or not. You will need to make sure you search through the forum regarding which ROME ISO you need to download from ABF.
The isos at SourceForge are old, to old IMO, and should be avoided. If one does use one of them you will likely run in to problems when upgrading. This article should get a user through that if you follow it exactly:
The essential part is this but you really need to follow ALL of the steps:
Boot system in console mode and login at the prompt >>> Important you are booting in to console mode from Advanced Options line in the grub menu not booting in to your graphical desktop.
I would be interested on seeding, though I don’t know how to start that yet, nor can guarantee it would be 24/7. I am trying to download the ISO, and it is set to finish in 9 hours…
Perhaps we need some of the new folks here to step up and manage OpenMandriva Lx torrents? Volunteers? This is a community not a company. The way things get done is you see something that needs doing and you do it. If you sit back and wait for someone “that know more” or otherwise to do it you may be in for a long wait.
Perhaps giving the login credentials for the Internet Archive OpenMandriva Association account to a few trusted people to let them upload there? I’d be happy to do so, and I figure a few other people would as well.
The issue with Internet Archive in general is one of trust, so the people with access to the account need to be vetted to some degree.
