Tmux installation in cooker fails

Hello,

Requirements:

I have Searched the forum for my issue and found nothing related or helpful
I have checked the Resources category (Resources Index)
I have reviewed the Wiki for relevant information
I have read the the Release Notes and Errata

OpenMandriva Lx version:

OpenMandriva Lx release 25.90 (Nickel) Cooker for x86_64

Desktop environment (KDE, LXQT…):

KDE

Description of the issue (screenshots if relevant):

I have a fresh install of OMLx cooker (build id: 4272) and after a distro-sync and reboot I try to install tmux with

dnf install tmux

but i get the following error message:

Transaction failed: Rpm transaction failed.
  - file /usr/share/bash-completion/completions/tmux from install of tmux-3.5a-1.x86_64 conflicts with file from package bash-completion-2:2.17.0-1.noarch

any help would be appreciated!

greetings…

sudo dnf in tmux --refresh

It installs and appears to work here.

ben,

very counterintuitive, but yes, it worked!

thanks!

Refreshing repositories in order to get the latest packages in Cooker is counterintuitive? In Cooker there can be 100’s of packages rebuilt in a single day.

Also FWIW the reason it worked, if you look in ABF you will see the package was rebuilt today (Nov. 5, 2025) by @bero. Probably saw your post and rebuilt it to upgrade for the latest library dependencies.

ben,

my bad! i’m apparently not yet accustomed enough to dnf… someday that will change, hopefully.

and, although i am all powerful irl, but i doubt that @bero already obeys my will… but if so, even better!

so for now: thank you all! more problems will follow…

greetings…

No worries. I probably learned what I wrote from someone else or by making the same mistake.

@bero does read forum posts when he has time but often does not reply. That is basically time, because developers tend to be very busy and have a lot of other projects they have to keep up with and so forth. Lots of interaction with upstream projects and mailing lists.
