Can I just say…
I am beyond happy with this operating system! I love that I can trust the developers. I love that the community does not censor posts and we have actual free speech here. I love having a stable system where I don’t have to worry about spyware and things I don’t agree with being injected into my system. I trust my OS for the first time in years.
I used Windows exclusively all the way up until 2024, when I switched to Linux Mint on one of my computers. I flirted around with Linux and got more comfortable with using the terminal and other aspects of the operating system. Over time, I got very comfortable with it, to the point where I knew Linux was in my future and not Windows. I slowly started migrating all the apps I use over to open source apps.
Then, through Lunduke, I discovered OpenMandriva. I downloaded it and put it onto one of my other laptops and was instantly hooked. I then started migrating every single one of my computers over to OM. I have experienced difficulties along the way, but once I got help from this amazing community, I have finally become comfortable and have been able to navigate this OS generally without a hitch. Overall, it has been more stable than Linux Mint. That might sound crazy to some people, but it is absolutely true.
I have even been using OM, with Libreoffice and Zotero, to make my way through my Masters degree. I have set up SyncThing across all of my laptops (+ GrapheneOS Phone) so that I have the same data no matter which device I use. I even have one system running OM 24/7 so that I constantly have everything backed up instantly and locally. It’s a better setup than I could have dreamed of. OM has been unbelievably reliable and stable, even for doing presentations at my seminary.
I’m so very thankful for the people that put their time into developing this! You have brought freedom and excitement about technology into my life. I will be praying for those that develop this system, that the Lord would bless them with skill and ability. May OpenMandriva thrive for years to come!
