The Great MAGA/Linux conspiracy

I want the 0.50 cal Desert Eagle edition.

“I didn’t know about almost any of them antix, mx, and devuan were really the only ones”

  • note: MX capitulated to the cancerous systemd in its last major release.

Antix is great if you’re very experienced or stuck with very low power pc.

Void and Alpine are both highly performant non-systemd distros but require a lot of work to make them useable as everyday desktop machines.

Artix is an Arch which substitutes your choice of no less than 3 different alternative init systems. Its a fine choice if youre willing to put up with the maintenace burden of Arch.

Devuan is a drop in replacenent for Debian which removes the cancer of systemd and replaces it with OpenRC. Arguably the easiest and most mature non-systemd based distro. Recommended.

Some Spanish dudes have taken Devuan and provided respins that offer a wide choice of desktops and switched from X11 to xlibre. They have alpha’s of SonicDE, a Plasma with X11 functionality restored so you have THE CHOICE of continue to be using X11/xlibre or Wayland. Imagine that, actual choice …

That distro is called Vendefoul Wolf Linux.

Vendefoul Wolf feels like a bunch of crazy guys who wanted to go against everything.
It’s fun and I like that idea.
I’ve tested the XFCE Vendefoul Wolf, runs pretty good.

Agreed Pixy, I have an install of the LxQT version which is equally good.

That they keep doing this way. I hope we can hold up with some stuff on Linux world, so we need those “I don’t give a F” kind of developers around.

I installed budgie vendewolf on a HP elite desk I picked up for $70 on Ebay.

Created a script to get OPN Sense on it, as their banning of routers is intentional as well.

Alpine, Void, and Venderwolf being based in Europe concerns me they will end up complying eventually……personally moving most of my systems to Devuan as it fits my Debian/Mint/buntu background.

Given the personal statements from some of those devs, I would be shocked if they did - but really it is a global problem.

Vendewolf is based on Devuan and is essentially an easier way to install Devuan.

I did try the Venderwolf Cinnamon in a VM last night and dayum it was snappy…….they even compiled, installed, and hosted mintinstall in their repos. Its basically a Linux Mint Devuan Edition.

Absolutely snappy. I’ve also been testing Artix, and find both faster than the vastly overrated Cachy.

Vendewolf also has a custom kernel tool, similar to Manjaro.

I made my own Linux Mint Devuan Edition by installing Devuan Cinnamon and slapping some Cinnamon themes in it. Consumes little RAM, and is nice an snappy too.

Came from Artix KDE because if I install fcitx5 there it makes Brave unable to remember things and reset in every reboot.

My main gaming rig is currently Devuan Cinnamon as of last week. Be aware I tried to switch to OpenRC but quickly switched back to SysVinit because the way OpenRC handled /tmp directories borked my PrismLauncher & Minecraft (I’m sure I could have fixed it but it was just easier to go back)…..fun fact I take all the Mint themes with me wherever I go. The ~/.icons ~/.themes and ~/.fonts folders still work if you add them on most distros and I slap all the mint cinnamon themes & icon packs right in there.

I’ve installed the XFCE version of Vendefoul Wolf.
My dad, who is also a linux user, came to visit me other day and he got surprised by how fast the system loads up.

This is a good use of AI tooling - I’ve been using it to accelerate development of my personal server. Created a script that installed OPNSense in Vendewolf using OpenRC and podman.

BUUUUUTTTTT…

I wouldn’t touch an Antifa distro for NOTHIN’.

Well compadre, at the age of 67 I woukd say that anybody who goes through life looking at EVERYTHING through narrow political blinkers is doing themsekves a disservice.

Five seconds research would tell you that ‘abtifa’ is not an organisation but simply a philosoohy. Less fox entertainment network and more fresh air is my recommendatioin.

Cheers from down under!

Islam is simply a religion. ISIS is an organisation that finds common cause with much of Islamic orthodoxy.

Now, think of an organisation that claims to be “anti-infidel.”

Would you trust it?

Artix is an organisation.

Antifa may simply be an umbrella term for a movement, but the organisations that fall under its umbrella are more often than not terror orgs.

That may be true in Australia, but in America antifa is a loosely organized group with chapters in most cities that coordinate together to plan large protests, often with antifa group members traveling from other states.

It definitely has sickle-shaped 0 bits and hammer-shaped 1 bits… and it eats children from the CD player.

I’m joking of course :winking_face_with_tongue:

Antifa started as an ideology during President Trumps first term meaning anti-fascist, but shortly thereafter they were being funded by Democrats in the USA and thus became more of a political/terror agency within the democratic party. They helped start riots and cause civil unrest. While the name Antifa means anti-facist they actually perpetrate facist ideology.
