The Category "Support" and the "Rich-Text-Bracket"-Problem

Hello,

This is my third post in the support-category. There are required checkboxes under “Requirements” below. I wanted to check some of them in the first two posts, but I couldn’t do it.

The problem is, if you are writing a post you are first landing in the “Rich-Text”-mode and you are NOT able to check them. You had to switch to “Markdown”-mode with the left upper button (The big A) and then you are able to set a x in the brackes below.

Is this intended or a bug?

Me as a new user in this forum was surprised.

With regards

Stevan Tiefert

I have checked the Resources category (Resources Index)
I have reviewed the Wiki for relevant information
I have read the the Release Notes and Errata

Relevant informations (hardware involved, software version, logs or output…):

The forum was upgraded recently, and the old editing interface that defaulted to Markdown mode seems to have been replaced with a “rich text” mode by default. The template has been there since before the upgrade.

Changing the default is something the admins will have to decide whether to do, but I understand your confusion. It’s not intentional; it was just designed for the old version.

Unfortunately, Discourse is too busy engaging in trend activism to allow regular people to create issues on their forge:

We would have to reach out to them to resolve it or wait for a PR that fixes it. Otherwise, one of the admins would need to investigate if a setting could fix the issue.
