What is the fix?

They need to be tested with Ventoy and different image writers. It would be nice to see our installer working on everything for a change. :slightly_smiling_face:

For testing it is helpful to know what the fix is.

@StudebakerGuy did the fix, but he had to go to work today, so he isn’t here to answer.

The fix, hopefully, is changes in the build tool.
Testing the installation is the test.

So ideally we will not need the terminal ls work around to use ventoy, right? Is that the fix we are looking for?

I think this is supposed to just work on Ventoy with no work around needed.

Correct.
1st post edited to make it more clear.

The fix was how the iso is mounted in the live system. It is now mounted through a loop device. Before the change, it was being unmounted sometime during or shortly after the filesystem was partitioned.

I don’t know this addresses all of the issues I’ve read about, but it addresses the one I could reliably repoduce.

I did have a couple instances where my monitor statyed black after tthe initial splash screen. I think this was my monitor going to sleep. Turning the monitor on an off fixed that, so it’s likely just my monitor as it does weird things like that on a regular basis.

ISO #3704 boots and installs from Ventoy on my laptop (without any workaround). I also checked that the iso boots and installs when copied to a usb flash drive (OM Image Writer). And it does that as well.

Will be testing ISO #3706 today with latest Ventoy version 1.1.05. Will report back.

ISO #3706 did not boot for me. Got a black screen on both GRUB and Normal options within Ventoy. On both I make it to the boot screen (the OM boot screen), select the iso, and then it acts like it’s gonna start loading l, but just goes to black screen and stays there
Currently it’s on the Normal black screen, I’m gonna leave it while I go to church and will check when I get back if it eventually loads

Edit: might be important to note that I have the laptop plugged into a Lenovo dock with multiple monitors.

Edit Edit: just saw your comment @WilsonPhillips , will try that once I get home from church

Do you have multiple monitors? If so, unplug one.

For your information the ISO install images built later have the fix as well, because isobuilder is untouched since then.
