Rome recent Major update broke compositor

Hello, I installed a 1.4 GB update using the system update app but when I restarted my laptop, after selecting the default startup option: OpenMandriva, it just shows an eternal black screen after the splash. I found that I’m finally able to boot into my desktop if I run OM using the console and use startplasma-wayland to login. I was using x11 before, i speculate that the recent update broke x11 on my pc config, I tried this on a clean install and i get the same result. How can I set wayland as my default desktop to avoid having to go through the console to boot?

Im using the default x11 rome iso install, plasma 6, CPU: AMD 7410 with R5 graphics

If you can get to the login screen, there is a dropdown menu in the bottom left that lets you pick the DE or WM you want to use. You should also try to do another

sudo dnf dsync --refresh --allowerasing

because there are numerous updates that may be taking place as we prepare to release Rock 6.0.

Thank you for the reply, however when I log out and try to enter the login screen im booted back into the console and can’t access any dropdown. My only option is to log back in using startplasma-wayland again. I tried sudo dnf dsync --refresh --allowerasing but the terminal reported that there was nothing to do, everything is done. Im trying to see if theres a way to set wayland as default without the dropdown at least to fix this for the moment

Ok, how did you install wayland on it?

Welcome! We are glad to see you here.

Also, how did you update?

I installed using “sudo dnf in task-plasma6-wayland” when using the boot to console option. This allowed me to start wayland with “startplasma-wayland” and finally access my desktop.

I updated using the “system update” app that comes with the distro. I use only that to update. I only use the main repository
