Rock update soon?

After learning of the sanity and common sense to be found in the OM world, I downloaded Rome and have been running it in a VM. I’m impressed, and want to install Rock on the bare metal as soon as it gets the major update mentioned on the main site.

Fingers crossed!

Yes no point to install Rock right now as 6.0 is almost ready.
I’d suggest ROME btw unless you have some good reason to install Rock instead.

I like Rome but as a user of MX Linux for the past few years I’ve gotten used to extreme stability, so I was thinking Rock would provide more stability than a rolling release -

If you install ROME now, when ROCK 6 comes out, it will just be a freeze of ROME and you can easily switch the repos to it. There will be instructions. On the other hand, just wait it out for a few days is O.K. too.

In a few days, ROME will get a huge update with the new Plasma 6.3 and they will freeze the ROME repos. They will grab a snapshot of ROME and it will be the new ROCK 6.0 and anyone that wants ROCK, can just edit their repo list and at that point, their rock no longer rolls.

I’ll see myself out on that one.

Well, OK you talked me into it. Installing Rome on the HP Z2 mini G3 workstation.

ROCK 6.0 LXQt slim .iso is to be expected ?

I wondered about doing this in another topic but it seems downgrading from cooker to rome works but not rome to rock if I understood correctly.

Normally, but this will be a rare time when you can.

Thats good to know

@richp There is still nothing wrong with waiting for Rock 6 to release and just upgrading from Rock 5. For those on ROME, they will be able to convert to Rock in a few days.

Hello,

I just got introduced to openmandriva and I’m really excited to try it out!

Has Rock 6.0 been released yet? Everything on the website is still saying 5.0

I know it is imminent.

Welcome! We are happy to see you here and we hope you will decide to make this your home.

Rock6.0 is still in testing. You can technically use it right now if you enable the correct repos, but the official release is coming very soon.
