After learning of the sanity and common sense to be found in the OM world, I downloaded Rome and have been running it in a VM. I’m impressed, and want to install Rock on the bare metal as soon as it gets the major update mentioned on the main site.
I like Rome but as a user of MX Linux for the past few years I’ve gotten used to extreme stability, so I was thinking Rock would provide more stability than a rolling release -
If you install ROME now, when ROCK 6 comes out, it will just be a freeze of ROME and you can easily switch the repos to it. There will be instructions. On the other hand, just wait it out for a few days is O.K. too.
In a few days, ROME will get a huge update with the new Plasma 6.3 and they will freeze the ROME repos. They will grab a snapshot of ROME and it will be the new ROCK 6.0 and anyone that wants ROCK, can just edit their repo list and at that point, their rock no longer rolls.
@richp There is still nothing wrong with waiting for Rock 6 to release and just upgrading from Rock 5. For those on ROME, they will be able to convert to Rock in a few days.
Hey good people rock 6 will be released wen ready - do not hurry that up.
OM is more stable then debian stable is.
Never seen any other distro like OM in that matter and i love this.
They call debian stable, debian stall … yet.
There is no cosmetic unnecessary updates here in OM so; OM stall even more then debian and that is awesome.
Can we please not put pressure to change this just for sake of putting pressure.
Or just to see new bigger number on our distro release. It truly makes no sense.
Correct me if im wrong. But if one want or need version number race then one use OM-rome or Arch linux, maybe Fedora. Who cares version numbers when you need stability.
Take care people.
PS keep your fingers cross for “me” my Mom is sick badly i hope for the best, but…
Just wish us luck
