Personally, I have timeshift setup with grub-btrfs to take automatic snapshots anytime I run an update. While I haven’t broken anything yet, it’s nice knowing that I can boot into a saved snapshot to restore my system if needed.
I’m pretty sure you can set up something similar with snapper instead of timeshift, but I’ve never used it before.
