Proton VPN Issue

Hello,

  • _OpenMandriva Lx version: 25.03

  • _Desktop environment (KDE, LXQT…): KDE

  • _Description of the issue (screenshots if relevant): I’m attempting to run Proton VPN through OpenVPN, and I keep getting this error:

Options error: --up script fails with '/etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf': No such file or directory (errno=2)
Options error: Please correct this error.
Use --help for more information.

Proton’s guide mentions needing to install openresolv, but I can’t seem to find anything about how to install it. Is openresolv in the OM repositories at all? And has anyone been successful with setting up Proton VPN in OM?

  • Relevant informations (hardware involved, software version, logs or output…):

I use ProtonVPN as a flatpak on three OM installations. It works just as it should.

Wow…I honestly didn’t even think to check if there was a flatpak. Also…you’d think Proton would advertise on their site that there’s a flatpak version. Oh well…thanks! I just installed it and it’s working great!

It is mentioned on their website alongside the Arch Linux package. They are not officially supported products, but both the flatpak and arch packages are maintained by a member of the Proton team.

Flatpak is an impressive tool in the Linux world (Snap, Appimages are as well and are also what I am talking about here). I am on Rock 5. It is more than a year old. The repos are behind in terms of current state of software. This doesn’t matter one iota though because of flatpaks. Flatpaks are the better solution to the immutable Linux distro IMHO.
