Description of the issue (screenshots if relevant):
The Mirrorbits manager is having a connection problem. This author does not know why but the Infra-team folks have been notified and are working to resolve this.
This affects users attempting to updrade, dsync, or install software.
Relevant informations (hardware involved, software version, logs or output…):
Be patient and let the process run until it completes. Some folks with slower connections may find this approach unsatisfactory.
You can edit your .repo file in /etc/yum.repos.d to comment out the baseurl=http://mirror.openmandriva.org/
and set the baseurl=
to baseurl=http://abf-downloads.openmandriva.org/ for all enabled OM repos.
For non-technical user that may not be comfortable with option 2 just wait. There are no upgrades for Rock and not many for ROME at the moment.
ROME will be getting a big upgrade very soon. Of course we hope to have the mirror issue resolved by then.
I, too, was having trouble accessing OpenMandriva mirrors and was very grateful for this thread. I too have had problems with updating my system due to the inaccessibility of mirrors. Working with Linux is relatively new to me, so I was very happy to find this thread on the OpenMandriva forum. The instructions for updating the mirrors helped me solve the problem and get access to the updates. Of course, it wasn’t the easiest process, but I was pleased that I was able to solve the problem.
The OM Mirrorbits manager has been very reliable. This incident was unusual something that had not happened before. We used it to learn from and have made some changes to make something like this less likely. To say something will never go down, well, we can’t and no one should.
