Hello,
- OpenMandriva Lx version:
ALL
- Desktop environment (KDE, LXQT…):
ALL
- Description of the issue (screenshots if relevant):
Some users have problem upgrading Google Chrome because it seems Google keeps changing their verification (GPG as I recall) files.
- Relevant informations (hardware involved, software version, logs or output…):
Some users report problems with upgrading Google Chrome. Google Chrome is 3rd party software. OpenMandriva does not have anything to do with this, it is not possible for OpenMandriva to fix. This is Google’s problem. No it does not matter that you installed the Google Chrome repo from om-repo-picker
aka “Software Repositor Selector”. Everything under “Third Party Repositories” is just redirecting to that organizations web site.
For people using Google Chrome that have this problem it is recommended to delete your current google-chrome.repo
in /etc/yum.repos.d
remove your current version of Google Chrome, for instance google-chrome-stable
. Then download Google Chrome from their website. You want to download the .rpm file not the .deb. Install with dnf
like any other .rpm. Then if you have problems contact Google. Only they can fix this.
If you remove Google Chrome and install from their web site you should not lose any bookmarks or settings because the file /home/user_name/.config/google-chrome
remains when you remove google-chrome-stable
(or what version). You can verify this in Dolphin, or if you doubt this then backup that file before removing Google Chrome. I have been doing this myself for over a year.
If you do this:
- Chrome will still be upgraded with
dnf dsync
of if you use Rockdnf up
. - I suspect you will find you no longer have the problem. Again if you do contact Google.
I do not understand why when I install the google-chrome.rep
from om-repo-picker
I have the problem but when I install it directly from Google I do not even though the .repo file comes from the same place. Makes no sense to me. But ‘Works_For_Me’.
