Package Request: Adding libgccjit for Emacs native compilation?

As an emacs user I noticed the Rome version is currently 29.4, which is fine, however I noticed it did not return t when running (native-comp-available-p). Upon looking around and trying to maybe just compile it myself to investigate if I could get native compilation I noticed that libgccjit doesn’t appear to be present.

Has anyone successfully managed to compile emacs with native compilation on OM Rome? What are the odds we could get libgccjit as a package? If it’s there I must be missing it.

I normally don’t care too much but the more complex the configuration gets the more the little extra oompf is appreciated. At one point I had even explored an AppImage release I had found and it is built with it however I was having too hard of a time getting it to properly load my configuration paths compared to the standard dnf install or flathub install.

Anyway, just moved to this distro this month after years on OpenSUSE Tumblewood and Fedora before that. Nicely done, minor differences but nothing I haven’t been able to figure out…besides this one.

Welcome! We are happy to see you here and hope you will decide to make this your home. I too, came from Tumbleweed and dnf is a bit of a different beast from zypper.

I checked and I do not see it in our repos. If you have a GitHub account, you can file a package request on our issue tracker.
