Package conflicts/broken dependencies

Hello,

Requirements:

I have Searched the forum for my issue and found nothing related or helpful I have checked the Resources category (Resources Index)
I have reviewed the Wiki for relevant information
I have read the the Release Notes and Errata

OpenMandriva Lx version:

OpenMandriva Lx release 25.90 (Nickel) Cooker for x86_64

Desktop environment (KDE, LXQT…):

Mate

Description of the issue (screenshots if relevant):

Hi all, decided to try OpenMandriva again after a long time. I installed the mate spin from the downloads, since I’ve never tried this DE before. I installed it, and when I try to do the usual sudo dnf update, it spits out a lot of package “problems”. I’ll be providing the screenshot below:

Relevant informations (hardware involved, software version, logs or output…):

I know spins are meant to be not so stable, but decided to still ask for help. My guess is that there are some mate stuff that requires a specific version of python? Let me know if I need to provide some more information

Oh, and also, the MATE spin seems to be missing the usual OpenMandriva Welcome program. Maybe this spin just ain’t worth it…

OK, after trying to do some troubleshooting myself and running into even more problems, I decided to start all over again with a brand new ROME iso (I didn’t really like the look of MATE anyway :upside_down_face: ). I just think this is not worth it considering that in this very moment I’m pretty tight on time. Sorry for spending a couple of kilobytes of this forum’s space >_>

The MATE spin needs work and curating.

To upgrade Cooker or ROME installations one should use sudo dnf dsync not sudo dnf update. Two recommended ways are:

sudo dnf clean all ; sudo dnf dsync --allowerasing
or
sudo dnf dsync --allowerasing --refresh

I like to remind folks that if you use --allowerasing you really need to pay attention to packages to be removed if any. If at al in doubt ask in this forum.

I have dsynced several Cooker systems in the last 2 days and there were no “Problems” spit our by dnf. So this may be why you saw that.
