OpenMandriva not working with Ventoy

Hello,

  • OpenMandriva Lx version: 24.12
Tried to download from here, but it wouldn’t work:
Product ROME plasma6.wayland ryzen - Platform - Openmandriva ABF

  • Desktop environment (KDE, LXQT…):
    KDE Plasma 6

  • Description of the issue (screenshots if relevant):
    Initial error: squashfs.img doesn’t exist.
Fixed via this post: Does anyone use Ventoy to install OMLx? - #5 by ben79
Now, /usr/lib64/calamares/modules/bootloader/main.py gets the error that says “python job bootloader raised an exception.”

  • Relevant information (hardware involved, software version, logs or output…):
    HP Pavillion gaming laptop:

    • Ryzen 5 4600H
    • GTX 1650
    • 32GB

I unfortunately don’t have another USB drive to test with right now.

  1. The latest build fixes the ventoy issue.
  2. You have an Nvidia card. You do not want Wayland.
  3. This image should work. Show - Product ROME plasma6.x11 ryzen - Platform - Openmandriva ABF

This one is an APU so I have the option to disable the dGPU if I want.

We do not have that one built yet. These instructions should help you use Ventoy to install the ISO you have now.

I actually did use that, which worked, but I got this afterwards re: /usr/lib64/calamares/modules/bootloader/main.py

python job bootloader raised an exception

Then use the one I gave the link to for X11 and install Wayland on it after the fact with this.

I started this build.

The Ventoy issues has been fixed, no one has reported problem using Ventoy since that fix was implemented. For other installation problems look in Forum Resources Index.

What to do if there is a problem installing OMLx

The logs that article shows user how to produce are very helpful to Calamares and OMLx folks trying to help users with installation problems.

There is lots of other good stuff in Forum Resources as well as in OM-Wiki. Use it.
