Is the open-vm-tools package available in OML? Because I don’t see it or do I need to add some repository to make this package available?
Hello,
Is the open-vm-tools package available in OML? Because I don’t see it or do I need to add some repository to make this package available?
Maybe tell us what it is? Where does it come from? And importantly what is the license?
It the package is in your enabled repositories dnf search package_name
would find it. The available repositories can be found in the om-repo-picker
aka Software Repository Selector.
Edit: Forgot the important part. Package requests can be made here.
Open VM Tools is a set of services and modules for VMware.
This is an open project: GitHub - vmware/open-vm-tools: Official repository of VMware open-vm-tools project
Make the package request at the link provided above. Or go to OpenMandriva Chat and talk to OM devs about getting this package built.
If you are so inclined there are people that can teach how to build and maintain the package in our ABF (Automated Build Farm), Alternatively one can learn how to build packags from command line with abf/abb. It may be easier than a lot of folks realize.
