[nvidia] Can not use text mode after latest ROME update

Hello,

  • OpenMandriva Lx version: 25.03 ROME

  • Desktop environment (KDE, LXQT…): KDE X11

  • Description of the issue (screenshots if relevant):

Today’s update broke text mode display working on nvidia (CTRL+Fx), console only grub menu option, recovery grub option. Only X11 graphics display is working correctly. Running with older kernel 6.13 doesn’t fix this.

  • Relevant informations (hardware involved, software version, logs or output…):
AM5 platform with Ryzen R7 7700X, nvidia GeForce RTX 4080, issue occures on nvidia-kmod-desktop and nvidia-kmod-desktop-open driver version.

But SDDM issue with nvidia proprietary driver seems to be fixed within this update.

Because nvidia ships their own framebuffer to handle VT’s, this can be a problem from time to time. Their drivers do not work with standard framebuffers in Linux. It may not be resolved until another version of the driver is released. The kernel parameter in the bootloader they had specifically to address this issue is no longer needed as they have mainlined the beta into their driver, so we can’t even toggle that anymore.
