New Rock/OMLx 4.3 snapshot ISOs (Fixes bug 2657)

First if you already have Rock/OMLx 4.3 installed there is no need to install from these ISOs. If you keep your system up to date you will have what these ISOs provide.

These are a snapshot of Rock/OMLx 4.3 repositories with about 120+ upgraded packages plus about 10 new packages installed as dependencies. These are mostly bug fixes and security upgrades. One of the upgraded packages is kernel-release-desktop-5.16.13-1. People wanting to do a fresh install may use these snapshots thereby avoiding needing these updates.

There is bug with our original OMLx 4.3 ISOs that would affect only people installing in VirtualBox and doing so using EFI boot option. These ISOs have a “workaround” fix for that. On the original ISOs to EFI boot in VBox you would first get an interactive shell and then you need to enter the following 2 commands one at the time. That bug report is here.

First type:

FS1:

Press enter then:

EFI\BOOT\BOOTX64.efi

Press enter and you will get the normal Grub2 menu.

With the new ISOs you will see the interactive shell for about 5 seconds and then automagically the Grub2 menu appears.

Admittedly not something that will matter to all users. The ISOs are here:

Rock Plasma snapshot x86_64

Rock Plasma snapshot znver1

Note for Rock/OMLx 4.3 users - Recommended software update procedure is to open Konsole and use this copy and paste command at least once a month:

$ sudo dnf clean all ; sudo dnf up
