Hi y’all. I’ve made my rounds on other distros over the years. Parking on distros that had good a/v selection of packages. Podcasting and music production, and being able to do some casual gaming is my realm. Currently I’m on OpenSuse. My main machine is currently a razer laptop with a 2060 gpu. First install attempt with OM was difficult. Finding the download link for the iso is atrocious for a first timer to the OM projects website. I made quick work of getting the iso to write and boot via usb once I tracked down links to Rock and Rolling. Then something not only in the live environment but also on the installed OS absolutely does not like using external monitors. I use 2 34in curved ultra wides. One is a dell with a built in kvm via USB C and the other is a Samsung via hdmi. Works flawless on Suse but on OM it won’t boot into the gui at all when they are plugged in. But once I plug them in after login, they continue to misbehave. Getting to the monitor settings to adjust is almost impossible because windows open off screen and it’s a jumbled mess. As of now, I don’t have time to fully troubleshoot. Maybe there’s a driver fix I missed?
I’m looking forward to future attempts at using OM because I’d rather support projects that focus on their ability to deliver product over politics. Being a Product Manager myself by day, I see the value in getting feedback from the user base. I hope this short review is helpful.
