Hello I saw this distro in DistroWatch and tried it. I wanna make some suggestions and share my thoughts. I’m not a Linux expert these are just my suggestions are thoughts.
I installed ROME edition. But there was no ISO for Minimal & Plasma 6 & Wayland & AMD CPU. So I had to download Full ISO. I know it’s hard to offer that many ISOs. But it would be nice.
I did not understand why you still provide ISO’s for Xorg and Plasma 5 but like I said I’m not an expert.
Although I chose everything correctly, my keyboard layout was wrong in Calamares. I installed lots of distro with Calamares but It’s only happened in NixOS and OpenMandriva Lx. Disk encryption password was true but I had to change my sudo password manually via terminal. I’m not sure about giving more information about this due to my privacy.
You can add unlock automatically option to Calamares like some other distros. With disk encryption it will becoming useless. In other way people have to make configration to /etc/sddm.conf manually.
There is some pixelated wallpapers. You can change them.
Overall, I liked distro a lot and I did not understand why It’s so underground. People and youtubers should try this.
Hello and welcome! While I can’t speak to your suggestions, as I’m not a developer at all, I do most definitely agree that more people should give OM a try. It’s honestly a great distro with an amazing community. I hope you enjoy using OM as much as I have and that you end up sticking around for awhile
We know about the type password twice issue for installs. It’s because the upstream LUKS2 support in grub2 broke booting at one point and we haven’t made any decisions to bring back the support without significant testing.
We also know that some of the keyboard layouts for specific languages do not work. Open a topic in Support for that, and specify the language that is not working.
