No idea; youâd have to ask @zeroability, as he created the channels. I was just going where I hoped the people would be. Glad Matrix is back now, and if we move somewhere else, hopefully itâll be posted somewhere.
The room requires registered nicks to reduce botting.
Check spam folders for the email. I had no such issue.
Weird; I did not register a nick; yet I got right into the rooms.
Must be the lack of persistence. Anyway, itâs not a replacement at this time. Too many features wanted.
Interesting.
Federation was always going to be a means to create echo chambers. A centralized authentication method that connects to many different systems. It was always going to result in authoritarianism. Itâs a power collective ripe for abuse.
Sadly, people will still keep using third party hosted solutions, because they canât be bothered to back up or secure their own data.
It was a fun experiment. I donât think it is to be.
I didnât even notice the outage since I run my own instance of Matrix. I guess thatâs why a few people in one of my group chats werenât responding to everyone else. Most of the people I talk to run their own instances so we werenât affected much. At least we can see that Matrix âdoesâ work beyond matrix(dot)org as long as your run your own instances.
