LXQt Wayland Cooker ISO - Build 4280

I’ve installed the Cooker LXQt Wayland ISO, build 4280 to be exact. I have taken note of a few issues and some solutions. The live image ran fine from Ventoy, no need to have the file manager or terminal open in a certain directory for Calamares to finish.

  1. SDDM. SDDM seems to not launch the LXQt Wayland session correctly (running the “LXQt (Wayland)” option) causing an uncomfortably long black screen before you actually make it into LXQt. However it often crashes the whole session when opening the applications menu, om-repo-picker, and other things. At the login screen, I opened a TTY, stopped and disabled sddm.service, and then logged in as my user and ran “startlxqtwayland”. Running LXQt Wayland this way loaded almost instantly and has none of the crashes. It may be worth trying to run LXQt Wayland with a different Wayland-compatible display manager instead since I have experienced SDDM cause these sorts of issues in the past outside of OMLx.
  2. Not all keybindings are working because qdbus is not in PATH. If you use the default keybindings for the LXQt-labwc session provided after installation of the ISO, only the one for PCManFM works (Super+p) because it’s the only one which doesn’t launch it with lxqt-qdbus. The rest, such as Super+Enter to run qterminal, will not work because lxqt-qdbus calls upon qdbus (from the qt6-qttools-dbus package) which is missing from PATH. You can see this in ~/.config/labwc/rc.xml. I verified this by temporarily symlinking %_libdir/qt6/bin/qdbus to /usr/local/bin and now the keybindings work as expected.
  3. The panel is still quite finicky under Wayland. Things such as the applications menu (right click on an application and the context menu appears on the panel rather than by the cursor), some system tray icons cannot be opened at all (Steam for instance) (the strikethrough was not due to LXQt, it was with Steam and fixed by the following), and you cannot move taskbar windows to another workspace although apparently this is working if Wayfire is used as the compositor instead

Overall, started using this today and had no issues besides those. Currently synced to the latest updates.

ISO # 1480 would be pretty old, are sure you are not referring to #4280?
