One of the reasons for me jumping to OpenMandriva from windows was the system instability and bad performance with some games. Switching to OpenMandriva didnt fix the issue, the same problems carried over, some know how I complained about Dayz over and over trying to get it to work. I eventually jumped to an AMD video card to fix my problems,
The same problems eventually started on my kids computer. Gamers Nexus did a video on it today and we rolled back the nvidia driver on his computer to 566.36 and the difference on his computer running DayZ is night and day. It DOUBLED his frame rate and all the glitching is gone.
I dont know how or if this can be fixed in Linux, from what I know the driver is kinda attached to the kernal. I just want to make everyone aware of this issue because it isnt just a windows issue.
use the following line to install nvidia drivers, also keep in mind that flatpak will try to update your system to the lasted ones if you have flatpak and it will break your system. so you might want to disable the vendor directory from flatpak.
sudo dnf in nvidia nvidia-kmod-open-desktop nvidia-settings
Please don’t recommend this unless you know the video card in question is supported. There is no link back to the original post where there were issues getting DayZ to work, so there is no track back to which nvidia card was used to test it. The better idea would be to link the pinned topic that covers testing the open nvidia drivers. It has a link to the compatibility list so people can verify their card will work.
