Lenovo loq ryzen 7 rtx 4060 info

Hello everyone,

I’m considering buying a Lenovo LOQ 15 APH9 laptop with a Ryzen 7 8845HS and RTX 4060.
Has anyone tested it with OpenMandriva or another Linux distribution?
If so, how does it work and what are the potential issues?

Thanks in advance. Have a nice day.

Welcome!

I would suspect you will find more about this with a web search. If it is supported by Linux, then it really doesn’t matter which distro.

The only potential issue I could see would be with the rtx 4060. Nvidia GPUs can sometimes cause issues on Linux systems. Also, others in the forum have mentioned that using an nvidia GPU with Wayland likely won’t work out too well. If you end up going with that computer, definitely run x11 :+1:

Yay!!! Something I know a lot about. I have a LOQ 15 that has a Ryzen R7, and 4050. It works well. SDDM will probably be the biggest issue. I compensate by useing lightdm instead of SDDM. Wayland does not work to well to be honest. I generally stick with x11 in any distro I go to simply because of the wayland nvidia issues. Although the Gnome OMLx spin with my laptop runs excellent and wayland does not have issues on that. I think my LOQ just hates QT.

Hello everyone,

Thank you for your replies.
So, I’m having the same problems I already have with my current PC and an Nvidia card.
Have a nice day.

I got Lenovo Legion 5 pro with 7945hx and 4070. I just ran OM live, and was able to install steam, nvidia drivers and clustertruck on steam. Everything was nice, I just had to enable integrated graphics in bios to start it up. And of course nvidia required a restart, so it needs to wait for me to pull the trigger and run it. As far as I can tell, everything worked

I had a heck of a time getting Wayland working with my 3080…ended up on Tuxedo OS to make that happen.
